Well done on the review. I think it’s great when people also test out the base models of average computers. Not everyone wants or needs a $4000 computer.
I think this machine is going to be the new standard for the relatively average consumer. Like the 10-year old iMac my mother has in the spare bedroom that grandchildren use for school work and play then they are visiting. That kind of machine. It still works. Perfectly fine. A really great, all-purpose machine.
And I loved my 2011 Mac mini….
Please compare the base model iMac to the upgraded models.

I had a feeling the six core i5 and this gpu was all I really needed.
With the hardware accelerators built in for newer codecs, sounds like the

I’d suggest not buying extra RAM from Apple, as it’s upgradable really easily in the iMac. You can get 128GB for 400-450$ on Amazon and avoid paying more than 1k$ on the official Apple website

I think I’ll go with the highest tier model, just so I can upgrade the GPU to the 5700.
Also, where did you get your lamp from? I don’t think I’ve seen a desk lamp with a wireless charging stand
