  1. Great guide! It’s all the more valuable because Apple itself doesn’t bother to talk about it anywhere – not in their manuals on their support site, nor on their YouTube channel, where they only talk about the basics. Not even halfway through the video, I’ve already found a few things I didn’t know about. One of them is a game changer for me. I’ll write about that later in a separate comment when I finish watching the video.

    • Apple does talk about this in their Apple Sessions people can sign up for to attend at Apple stores or virtual classes.

  2. Thank you for another unique video. It’s impossible to review all the videos on YouTube, but I’m still pretty sure that there is no analogue of such a detailed and high-quality analysis. The main revelation for me was 7:05. Seems trivial, many may not notice and miss it at all, but I was amazed. I always thought that you could only move the Slide Over window by the top center bar (or three dots starting from iPadOS 15), which is not always convenient. For example, I’m lying in bed with my iPad resting on my bedside table on a stand. And I find it very difficult to reach the top edge of my 12.9-inch iPad from my bed, including when I need to hide or move the Slide Over window to the other side. And, it turns out, such a windows can be moved by any part of its edge! Why Apple keeps quiet about this and doesn’t mention it anywhere — I don’t have any idea. I didn’t even want to use Slide Over mode, because I wasn’t comfortable moving windows like that by the top bar/dots. And the method shown works even on iPadOS 13.7!

Next I’ll just point out the time codes of what I didn’t know:
2:33 — I knew about the 4-5 finger pinch to get to the home screen, but I didn’t know that this gesture could be held up to initiate multitasking view.
    6:15, 17:48

This video is definitely bookmarked as an excellent guide. It’s nice to have someone who tells and shows the features in a way that at least Apple itself should have done.

    • Wait until you get a hang of using these features on a keyboard using global and app shortcuts. I have a compact keyboard that does not have the Globe key, so I mapped it to the Caps Lock Key. When I need to type in all caps, I just hold down the Shift button.

  3. Wow I learned a lot and I didn’t realize you can use quick note with multitasking so many things or without Apple Pencil. Great video!

  4. wow… I thought i knew them all, what a surprise. Super handy video to definitely share with many friends and family. Kudos and super excited about the upcoming part 2 and others ! Tank you very much

  5. This is definitely the most useful guide all over social network so far. Thank you so much for your hard work!! I’m grateful for these informative videos. Keep it up!!!

PS: Saved it in my list of favorite videos <3

  6. I feel way more empowered to use my iPad in ways that serve me better after watching this video. Thank you very much!

  7. Jeff, thanks as usual a terrific video.
The timestamp and topics covered is invaluable!
I think the key to learning all these multitasking tips…
Is NOT to learn them all at once, but to learn to pick and choose based on where you are at right now!

  8. Fantastic. I’ll have to watch this over and over and over. So much flexibility and access. Thanks Jeff!

  9. Thank you for this. Have been floundering around trying to learn how to do these things. Really appreciating this!

  10. 7:05 — It’s only now, after a while, that I realized that you can just swipe from the edge of the screen. Initially, I thought you had to grab the Slide Over window by one of its edges (left or right, and that really works). So swiping from the edges of the screen is even easier than accurately grabbing the edge of the window.

  11. Thanks for this! So helpful. Loving my ipad pro more and more – don’t use anything else. With the split view, and slide over, you have to be **extremely** vigilant, when using Safari. If you don’t “merge all” tabs IMMEDIATELY after doing this, in any form, the ipad somehow will delete any and all tabs you had opened originally in your safari on a stand alone window, and there’s no way to get them back (without merge all, done immediately). It’s a bug people keep complaining about, I’ve seen on forums when it happens to me and I lose tons of work I can’t REMEMBER to be able to find again – current work, not something I’d bother to save or bookmark, yet. But no resolution so far. Just SOL. Shouldn’t happen at all, but it happened again to me a couple weeks ago, so clearly Apple hasn’t fixed it yet.

  12. Excellent work as usual Jeff. Given how unintuitive Apple has made multitasking on the iPad, this is greatly appreciated!

  13. Thanks, Jeff! A lot of great tips.
Using the latest iPadOS 15.6.1, I don’t see the solid bar Home indicator at the bottom of the screen on my iPad Air 3, but I do see the three dots at the top for multitasking. Any suggestions to make the Home indicator show up? Thanks!
