This is almost perfect for me, but why with that huge power brick did they limit it to only 60W? I would guess a large number of power users looking for 10GbE would also have the 15 inch MacBook pro…
Agreed. Most are 85w too, which isn’t enough under heavy workloads. 87-100w is what’s required.

It needs it, it generates some heat otherwise.
yeah – some docks get hot – but it does not look like they tried very hard to achieve passive cooling… Caldigits Dock is obviously designed to be passively cooled and Sonnet managed passive 10G cooling as well. So it should technically be possible to build a dock that does that as well. Even if it means a bigger dock – this is far from portable anyways with the power brick…
Seems pretty expensive. Not one port for us older macbook pro owners? Or are there Thunderbolt 1 to 3 adaptor cables available? I am not ready to upgrade to a newer Macbook pro yet as my older one works just perfect still. Why the heck did they make that power brick so big?
That’s a really cool TB Dock. Glad to see they are advancing them as we go along. I have always liked having a TB Dock to expand a TB enabled Mac computer.

Sorry, no longer use CFast cards :-/ If I did, I definitely would test. I should probably just keep one on hand for testing.
Just add an UHS2 reader along with a couple of USB 3 type to an e-GPU and I’m set. One cable to the MacBook Pro and another to the monitor.
I’d much rather have a couple more USB 3 ports than something like eSATA which is a dead/dying standard.

Pretty expensive. Surely that power brick could deliver at least 85Watts, why do they come with 60 Watts only? I own a Sonnet solo 10gb and is passively cooled ( dead quiet ) , was actually waiting for a docking TB3 station with 10GbE support like this one but apart from price, fan puts me off completely. Sticking with CalDigit TS3 Plus (which gives 85W) and sonnet combo for the time being.

What exactly does this thing do? He explained how fast it is but didn’t explain what it actually does!
It’s a Thunderbolt 3 dock… for connecting…stuff. USB, Ethernet, DisplayPort, SD Cards, etc.
Its one of those things that you now need if you somehow got fucked up with owning a crippled mac.
