  1. In my opinion, Apple perhaps saw a recession might be coming, so it spend extra efforts in adding new features to budget iPad instead of the M2 iPad Pro (which is not worth it at all, compared to the M1 iPad Pro), Admittedly, the support of 1st gen pencil is a little awkward, but unless you’re a Pro user, an Apple Pencil really doesn’t add much additional functionality for iPad users (I have an Apple Pencil myself but I rarely use it). The new keyboard is a little pricey (still cheaper than Magic Keyboard but with functional keys), but you can likely buy a third party keyboard for much less. Compared to other iPads in the lineup, the 10th generation iPad is actually a great device if you’re in need of a new iPad.

    • I also believe apple will update the ipad pros next year and in the process increase the price by at least $150.

    • I’m interested to hear Apples next earning report. Cause it seems they have alienated all their customers abroad. Everyone outside of the US seems to be kicking and screaming at their new pricing.

    • @Internati0nalEAC I can totally understand the frustration. It’s unfortunate that British pounds or Euro had dropped so much value nowadays, and this part is out of Apple’s control. Not to defending Apple but they are an American company and would need to report their revenue in US dollars. That’s just part of the fun of basic economics – you’re expected to see an increase in export and decrease in import when your domestic currency loses value. I hope Apple can readjust its price in Europe once the conversion rate stabilizes back to normal.

    • Tbh I’m actually happy for the Apple Pencil 1 support since I have an iPad 2018 6th Gen and I really don’t want to spend $130(?) extra for the Apple Pencil 2. I rather the slight inconvenience haha

    • @Aaron Melson Unless the 11 inch iPad Pro gets Mini LED or OLED, I don’t see them raising the price of that one.

  2. I purchased the base model iPad mini 6 when it released and I’ve been very pleased with it, it’s a great little device.

    • I love my Mini 6 as well, disappointed at lack of iOS optimisation, however it’s my go to device over my M1 11-inch with magic keyboard or 2018 13 touchbar MBP – yes the iPad Pro is great for serious work, but on the go, I love the Mini form factor.

  3. I love my iPad Air 4 it does everything I need having promotion and other features are not a necessity for me and I am pretty sure I am not the only one that feels that way I use my iPad for sketching and video editing and it works perfectly fine for me nice video though hope you have a nice day

  4. Like you, I use the 12.9 as my main way to work in my business. I will be upgrading from my 2020 iPad Pro but a bit disappointed they didn’t change the orientation of the FaceTime camera but still looks like a good device.

  5. Another often overlooked niche case for the iPad Mini is as a “kneeboard” for private pilots. There’s an entire ecosystem of apps and accessories for this critical use.

  6. I recently bought an iPad air 5, I’m beyond satisfied, it’s an excellent tablet, I disagree with the creator’s opinion, compared to air 5, the pro is quite a bit more expensive, it’s quite a big difference in price

    • True. A fully configure Air may be as an expensive as an entry level Pro, but if you are decking out an Air then you’d also have to deck out a Pro — which means serious money. I love my 5th Gen Air.

  7. Love this comprehensive overview. I don’t agree that most users want to outfit their iPads to function as computers. The average user wants to stream videos and surf the web. Grab an Air, or even an entry level iPad, and you’re good to go. Want some productivity? Spend $70 and you can get a Logitech keyboard and mouse that will make it easy to take notes or do a bit of work.

  8. I love the 11 inch iPad Pro M2 idea because you get everything the M1 iPad Pro offers. Both M1 and M2 iPad Pros cost the same, $799 retail. M2 will be much better with Pro Res Decode/Encode with video editors. M2 isn’t too much my personal style. This part is a rather interesting rant that I found out with hardware specs. M2 with it’s 4 performance cores (clocked at 3.5ghz) is impressive, especially from its low power draw. This is different, but, think of the Xbox Series S. The console (Series S) has up to 4 Teraflops of GPU power. M2 has almost that at about 3.6 Teraflops. PS5 has at each of its cores clocked at 3.5Ghz like M2’s P Cores. The Steam Deck has a base clock CPU speed of 2.4Ghz. The E-cores in the M2 have 2.4Ghz each. It’s as if the Steam Deck, Xbox Series S, and PS5 are related to M2 devices such as iPad Pro, M2 MacBook Air, and the M2 MacBook Pro. It’s weird, yet they’re all like a family. Love the video 9to5Mac.The videos have helped me get the right iPad for my needs. I chose the iPad Pro M1 with 2TB for Light productivity and gaming. Keep up the good work.

  9. I would seriously love the 9 Gen iPad. It seems like it would be good enough for all my needs, and I love the old-school form factor.

  10. I have an iPad Air and I am grateful it exists. An upgrade from a mini for sure. The M1 chip was a selling point. Saves extra hundred bucks on the pros. Does what I need it to do within my budget

  11. Quick correction. The 9th gen ipad actually comes with the A13 bionic, not the A12. I waited for the reveal of the 10th gen. l was really on the fence about which to buy. I ended up trading in my mini 5 and going with the 9th gen. I’m scoring a 9th gen for just $299 with 256 GB, after trade in. The 10 is just overpriced for what it offers. Sure, you’ll likely get an additional year of support for your $120 but that’s not a good enough reason to purchase. Even at 1 year old the gen 9 will be supported for at least the next 4 years(maybe more, as the average is 6 with an additional 2 years of security patch minimum) The reality is that very few will actually hold on to their tablets for long enough to reap the reward of the assumed extra year of full OS upgrade. The problem with the 10th gen is that it seemingly cuts the wrong corners and is(as others have said)overpriced. Whether you buy the 9th or 10th gen, you’re nonetheless buying a two year old chipset under the hood, at minimum; that’s exactly why price is so important, at the low end and why the 10 is a bad buy, at current pricing.

  12. The thing that annoys me the most is the size vs feature thing it’s got goin on given that only the 12.9 inch version comes with pro motion + mini led display. I DO NOT want that size but the features are a must. How i wish they’d have both on either mini or air or even the 11 inch pro model.
