  1. I got the iPadOS 16.1 Beta update like 3 hours ago. It was 4.49 GB in size. I own an Air 4. Maybe they released it for non M1 devices in advance.

  2. In terms of capturing live text, you cannot capture life text from any video application apart from the one that comes with your iOS device. In terms of caption, you can’t copy and paste the transcribed caption somewhere else.

  3. Changing the extension of file does not actually make the file the type the extension says. So, changing the extension .png to .jpg won’t transform a PNG file into a JPEG file.

  4. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been waiting for a somewhat comprehensive review of the iPad OS. What we can look forward to on the basic level.

The new pen is a drafting / architecture technical inking pen. Something of a precision felt tip. I used them for CAD/CAM back in my college days. (Still made by Staedtler and a few other companies) Glad to see it included. Can’t wait to try it out.

Still wondering if Notes will have pinch to zoom in this update. I’ve heard that thumbnails can be resized now when dragged in. I like the subject detachment from photos. Sometimes I’m just not into the rest of a picture. This cuts down of having to “mask/screen” in some App.

So it seems version 16 is highlighting sharing and collaboration overall with some memory swapping in preparation for the introduction of Pro Apps. Bring it!

I see a future iPad redesigned and a bit thicker . A fan will need to be included because ProX Apps are chip / ram intensive … and that means heat. Plus they’ll have to figure out what to do with the pencil if there is to be a landscape cam on the Pro.

  5. I just want real folder icons available at this point. The ipad still has no calculator app which everyone should put a feature request in for.
I also think widgets should be able to be put anywhere and grid locked should be removed.
It would make the ipad feel less like a phone still.
I always want the black bars to go away when watching media thats so stupid.
Theres so many things wrong in IOS than there are good. Its taking forever to get changes in IPAD OS.

  6. Thanks for this. I am excited to see the new files upgrade. As someone who moves between icloud, onedrive and google drive for work purposes, it seems like an upgrade that is long overdue.

  7. Absolute rubbish that the 2018 iPad Pro with 4GB ram gets stage manager while the 2020 Air doesn’t despite being on par performance wise, this update gives me almost mothing of value. We don’t even get the new wallpaper customisation, maybe that’ll be software locked next year due to needing the extra horsepower to figure out when to put the time behind the image foreground.

  8. I really wanted stage manager I didn’t get it.. I have the iPad Pro 10.5 .. they need to get it added ASAP! Some other features I’m missing as well but I was really looking forward to the stage manager! Do you think it will come out for the iPad Pro 10.5 ?
