why not just disconnect one end of the band from the watch itself?
Whilst I cart a charger and spare battery around for my watch, iPhone, iPad and mbp the new gen 5 seems to have really improved the batter life, compared to my g1 watch.
I can work very long days and often put on my watch first thing after a shower n brushing my teeth. And take it off last thing! I seldom remember it running out early evening when I didn’t have a chance to charge it at work – which was often the case for the g1

Once WatchOS 6.1 came out, I got better battery life on my Apple Watch 5 than I did on my Apple Watch 4. I use it all day and usually have about 50-60% battery life when I go to bed.
I bought one about a month ago. I love it. Great for travel. I did lose it once so I added a Tile sticker to it.
