Wow
iA Writer user here. It’s an amazing and simple app. I would prefer iA Writer over Byword, since the Byword doesn’t seem to update the app a lot, and the interface seems iOS7-ish, while iA Writer gets constant updates, looks elegant, and the developers are very active and friendly on Twitter answering user questions.
Agreed, Byword is looking a tad outdated. Still a great app though, but yeah, iA Writer is ace.
iA Writer 5 is just around the corner, and it seems like they might move to a subscription model.

I love you 9To5Mac ❤️ Great content!
I would personally rather write on a computer but that’s just me…
Ben Bishop I do to, but I have found swyping on the iphone or iPad surprisingly fast and easy to use. It means I can write in bed, or on the couch quite comfortably, and is also ideal for editing, especially is you want to see your writing in a book format. I can then switch to the Mac when I have a long writing session, or need a few more features. I use Scrivener.
Informative
It’s hard to beat Pages for the Apple ecosystem, especially the cloud. I think because it’s free as part of every Apple device, it gets little respect. I’ve tried them all as a professional text writer…Scrivener, iA Writer, Om writer, Ulysses, etc…and I always come back to Pages for Mac and iOS, MS Word for Windows devices.
Depends on where you are from. Word is my favourite because it has better grammar/word correction for Danish.
Love the music ☺️
Scrivener probably has the most options, and is an excellent writing app, but I wish it had icloud syncing and a focus mode on sentence or paragraph. Scrivener 3 for Mac is out soon, and thankfully not subscription-based (looking at you Ulyses).
That keyboard caught my attention. How do you get that toolbar above it?
I’m planning on moving to iOS and I have one question. Are many iOS apps that expensive? Like these ones? $20 for an app…
There are tons of free apps but “pro” apps cost money to make.
Valtteri Huuskonen Thanks but coming from Android (where there are many free apps, and really good ones) is really hard for me to spend money like there’s no tomorrow
Nice vid as usual! I use Notes for everything but… I use Pages when I need to read a Note while writing the final document/script. This is because I use my iPad for writing and the only way I can have a note on one side and write about it at the same time is using another software. Will check the other options too, cheers!
