Nice review. I have a 2010 Ford F-150. Sadly, the stock opening does not fit a double din unit without modifying the opening. So when I recently installed a new head unit I decided to put in a single din Pioneer unit as I was doing the work myself. Seeing Carplay work in this video makes me somewhat regret not taking the dive and doing the modifications necessary to fit a double din unit. Oh well. 🙂
Mr. Luigi google “2010 f150 Tesla Android”. It will replace your vent controls and put them on screen too. Huge upgrade. Then if you go on eBay and look up “CarPlay dongle” it will add CarPlay and android auto. Best solution .
Pretty dope but I got a CarPlay HeadUnit from eBay for $150 free shipping and man is it nice. You even get a proper volume knob with a 7″ touchscreen
Mykola Grymalyuk link?

Item’s been discontinued and sounds like they got in trouble for selling CarPlay units without paying royalties so I can’t find any of them anymore. Even this listening has no mention of CarPlay anymore even though my email from when I purchased it had it directly in the title
hi, can I pm you somewhere?
Gena A u/dracoflar on reddit
Does it have to be professionally installed?
Your car had that USB port or you had to install it?
Gianmarco Morales the usb is connected through the back so u have to re route the wire urself however u want. More than likely he had to install that himself
I agree I’m not a fan of the buttons there not safe when your driving in my option . U have to take your eyes off the road if u hit the wrong botton
Great review of this device. I have been looking for something like this for a while. My car being a bit older never had any of this technology. I would prefer to keep my car and keep using it for now. Thank you, Jeff for showing us this device. Now, to find it and have a quality technician install it for me. (:
Is this newly released? I have the nex 4100… should I upgrade?
im100percentg The 2018 product line is the 2400/2440 series in the AVH and 2400 for the MVH
it charge the phone when is plug in??
Brickatmyhead yes
I had that and got rid of it in favor of the Alpine ILX-107. The ILX has wireless CarPlay witch is infinitely better than wired CarPlay definitely worth the extra cost. The ILX is also designed specifically for CarPlay. It’s own UI even matches CarPlay. The screen is also a little bit bigger
I have one of those CarPlay enabled pioneer units and that warning message is annoying every time the car starts.
IS THIS WORTH THE MONEY???
Can it fit on my Toyota RAV4 2016 edition?
This is just an entry-level model, and should be pointed out. Not at all Pioneer’s highest end unit.
Paul Thompson he said it’s the affordable one aka cheap one
Nice review I’m personally going to get the AVH 2440NEX for my car
$300 on Amazon
Make video “what’s on my iPhone”. It’ll be great)
How is the eq
Very fast, just one question when you plug the iPhone in does it start playing music automatically
Also will the equaliser settings work throughout Apple car play
ZRAudio&Vlogs yea it’s starts automatically
This model have hdmi input?
Honestly, you must be extremely picky. Yes, the stock UI is clunky at times, but it works pretty fluidly, and better than most. And you say you won’t need to use it… while that is true to an extent, you will need to use it to listen to AM/FM, or CDs/Sirius (if your receiver has it.) There are also times where I don’t feel like hooking up my phone, so you use the stock UI to change songs and such.
CarPlay is great, and works well. There are often times when it won’t launch and I have to do it on my own. The icons on the side above the home button update when you open apps, showing the three most recent, and are not permanent.
I do agree that the tactile buttons are good, but like all tech, we must move forward. I do agree on the lack of a volume knob, as my receiver also does not have a knob, and I wish it did. This receiver is a good unit, but comparable to the 1330NEX that I have.
