The biggest change to Ventura is Metal 3, which is critical for Apple’s foray into AAA gaming (finally!). I’d love to see if the M2 using Metal 3 is better with Blender or Metal games, than an M1 running older Metal 2 to get an idea how Apple is progressing.
Reviewing MacBook wearing a Google T-shirt
Nice
Ventura is still in beta, so may have to revisit this again at the final release.
Love your videos, Miles! Thanks for this. I appreciated the Continuity Camera demo. I conduct lots of online training sessions and want to use my iPhone 13 Pro in place of my crappy FaceTime camera.
Looking forward to using stage manager on a new Mac pro mini
Love the Fact you Upload in HDR and the iPhone 13 Pro Max lights up like a candle when clicking on your video
Hey Miles! I missed your HDR videos. It’s gorgeous. Thank you 🙂
Great job… I would love to see a real world battery test between the M1 MBA, M2 MBA and the 14 MBP. Thanks and keep up the good work,
I’d love to see this too. Also a test between the three in low power mode as well
Yes, what many advocates of the M1 over the M2 forget is that the RAM is much faster in the M2 and that means quicker and more fluid RAM management. Also, the random read and write on the M2’s are faster, along with much higher bandwidth, and better ML. All-in-all I suspect that Stage Manager will run very well on the M2.
Having used Satge Manager for two weeks, I would not go back to the old UI anymore. This is much more intuitive and a great improvement by Apple. With it also on the iPad it means even more continuity between products.
Not many issues on macOS Ventura beta so would not put anyone off. The iPad is a bit more buggy but latest beta is improvement.
This would also mean going with 10GPU to be better suited for Ventura performance than the 8GPU
What’s great is he’s wearing a Google shirt while reviewing a Mac.
wow, your video is shot in 4K HDR, looks amazing on my 16 inch MacBook Pro with XDR display
For anyone who has beta, did stage manager gives you better productivity? It looks like it just shift to sideway rather than minimize to your tabs
Totally find this feature incredible on iPad those.
thanks for the great videos. Wanted to let you know that I am seeing battery drain on the M2 with Ventura. definitely not lasting 18 hours – more like 8-10. Are there any settings or other configuration issues / suggestions you have to diagnose this issue? Thanks
I’ve done a double reinstall and compare between Ventura BETA and Monterey on my M2 MacBook Pro, and Ventura is a lot more responsive. Monterey scrolls roughly in all apps and windows by comparison. I think perhaps M2 was in fact built for Ventura back at apple. Monterey is definitely where you want to be when Ventura launches. And I suspect a lot of it may have to do with Metal 3 on M2.
can someone tell me how bad Ventura beta killed your battery?
Great presentation and very well spoken!
