  1. Nice demo. Would also like to point out that the performance through FCPX
might not be best represented through the screen recording, as doing screen
capture also takes up resources to be able to record what’s being shown.
Just an FYI if anyone is curious as I know some people will bring it up!

  2. Someone sent me the link to this video and I’m glad they did because this
    is an excellent tutorial!

  3. Is this meant for if you’re trying to render 4k in a pinch that you can do
it on a macbook or does doing it this way actually save time vs editing it
without using proxy media on a macbook?

  4. yeah proxy on 4K raw media. It takes a lot of storage space & high
processing power when encoding/creating proxy. It is strongly recommended
to use external RAID Thunderbolt storage for 4K workflow. So the
application can use more bandwidth on the internal drive, uninterruptible.

Even high end vfx/editing with dual xeon using FC RAID Array for 4K
    workflow & Proxies

  5. As if the 12″ MacBook was made for all these editing? It was made for using
Office for Mac, iTunes, Apple Music Consumption at most!

  6. Can the same be done with Premiere? If so can someone suggest a video? I’m
amazed how well FCP runs on that little macbook, Premiere is brought to its
knees on my i7 13″ MBP

    • your i7 mbp is far more powerful than the 12″ macbook…what are your
specs?you should know that maxing out your RAM is always very helpful and
using SSDs can increase very much the exporting process 🙂

    • +GKS960 Yes, but Premiere is horribly inefficient. 16GB, 3.1 i7, SSD. I’m
lucky to get 1FPS when editing.

    • ooh ! it seems a bit odd! maybe a clean install of OSX could help? I helped
some months ago a friend maxing out his macbook pro( i7 model too, sandy
bridge or ivy bridge can’t really remember) who used it for adobe suite as
well( photoshop, premiere etc).i installed him 16GB of RAM,replaced the DVD
drive with a caddy and the HDD…so 2 SSDs in RAID (i think samsung EVOs
500GB) and he has told me that he got a great performance boost…i made
him a clean install of el cap…) but really can’t understand why you get
bad performance…i mean this macbook uses a SoC and you got an i7…anyway
the only thing i can think is a software thing…try making a clean
      install(if you prefer,on a spare HDD/SSD) and see if it helps… 😉 cheers!
