Is it not possible to install Ventura on a separate APFS volume?
No you can, you’re just gonna have to install Monterey on that separate volume that you created. Then upgrade that volume to Ventura.
I just fell for this as well.
Thought the Ventura installer would prompt me to select a volume first.
I had created a separate volume for just that.
But the installer decided to go ahead and choose my main volume.
This is not fun …
@Klajd Deda sorry to hear that. The best thing you should’ve done, created a separate volume with an OS recovery, download the software of macOS Monterey on it. Then upgraded it to Ventura.
I keep getting a notification on my macbook to download Monterrey but my mac isn’t supported.
It is not a notification to update your Mac, it’s to buy another one.

Just create a new ‘APFS container’ in Disk Utility and install it along side your current build. It’s not destructive to your current install and lets you bouce back and fourth betwen both versions of macOS.
I tried this but there seems to be a bug that doesn’t allow you to install it on a separate volume. It just installed it straight away on my main volume which I use daily. I looked it up and there seems to be a lot of other people with the same issue. And the only way to go back to Monterey is by wiping the entire internal SSD
@Joran Vancoillie When you create that volume, you’re gonna have to go into OS recovery and install Monterey on that volume. Then once Monterey is completely installed and you set it up, then you upgrade that new Monterey partition to Ventura.
First, have a Time Machine backup of your iMac or MacBook. On an Intel Mac, connect your MacBook to power, then select the Apple icon and Shut Down. On your MacBook, press and hold Option, Command, and R with your left hand, then tap the power button with your right index finger while continuing to hold down Option, Command, and R until you see the globe spinning on your screen. If you have an iMac, select the Apple icon and Shut Down. On the left side of your Magic Keyboard, press and hold Option, Command, and R with your right hand, and then tap the power button with your left index finger on the left rear chin while continuing to press and hold down Option, Command, and R until you see the aforementioned spinning globe on the screen. If you’re only connected via Wi-Fi, you will be prompted to connect to a network. Once connected, a fresh copy of the macOS that your device supports will be downloaded. The macOS Recovery window will populate, select Disc Utility, then select Continue, a new window will populate, select Macintosh HD in the left pane of that window or the named drive at the top of the aforementioned left pane, select Erase, be sure that the Name is Macintosh HD, and that Format is APFS. Select Erase Volume Group if it populates, if not, then select Erase. Upon completion of erasure, exit Disk Utility, select reinstall macOS. After reinstall completes, Restore your Mac from a Time Machine backup. This will have your Mac running like new. Do this every time when a new macOS is officially released to keep your Mac running like the day you took it out of the box.

I don’t think I have a backup on Time Machine, and I didn’t save macOS Monterey onto another drive (external), so how do I get back to macOS Monterey?

I’m uninstalling now. The ‘powerd’ process runs at over 100% constantly with no way to make it stop. Battery drains from full to zero within the hour. Two beta updates later and still no resolution. Crazy bug.
is there any way to return without losing the mac files?

I have the profile but when I get to the systems preferences update bit mine says “Update not found”. I have backed up onto a separate hardrive but I think time machine isn’t recogising it as a proper back up
Can I get the data from my iCloud, I have a backup on time machine that uses the airport when I have bought a new Mac desktop I have migrated all my stuff from the icloud
