    • It works great for some tasks like for me, I dock it into a big monitor and I configured it so that it stays awake but the screen is off when I dock it and I’m able to use my big monitor and keep it awake. I heard that it doesn’t hurt anything for people that keep it on closed.

  1. I think there might be reason (a thermo wise reason that is) to justify MacBooks going to sleep when the lid is closed. I fear to much ruining a very expensive machine just for closing the lid

    • it depends on what the use case, in my case when I have it plugged into my second widescreen monitor, I can shut the lid and the screen turns off but the computer stays on with this app, so I can just use it like that to work with. It’s worked great, no issues with it. I do make sure the screen is turned off but still awake in my case.

  2. I’ve personally set it in the quick mode. So whenever I want to start a session, I just click the icon in menu bar. Easy!

  3. Why can’t you just go into settings, Energy Saver and uncheck Prevent your Mac from going to sleep when the display is off and uncheck Put hard disks to sleep when possible?

  4. great app I use it to dock my laptop and my laptop screen shuts off but I can still keep it awake on my big monitor. I’m able to work and even use al dente to keep it plugged in but from the battery hitting 100% the entire time. I love it.

  5. I don’t understand how it works honestly..

i want to use my Macbook while connected to an external monitor on both battery mode and while it’s charging.

But the Macbook has to be closed all the time.

Yet when I press Amphetamine while my display is connected it goes black…
