You may have already noticed this: when using stage manager on an external monitor, I now get 5 app clusters to show on the left side of the screen instead of the usual 4. However, there are still just 4 on the iPad itself. Also, with this beta, I am no longer able to use air play on my iPad if an external monitor is attached. When I try to do so a notification tells me that air play is not supported if an external monitor is connected.
Does this mean no fullscreen viewing on external monitors of movies and series when using Netflix and Amazon Prime? (Since they don’t adjust to the fullscreen size, I was using Netflix/Amazon Prime on my iPad and AirPlaying to the second monitor).
I’m not sure I see iPad becoming an official “computer replacement” any time soon… but definitely an alternative for those that truly need full computer capabilities.
Stage Manager got way better on my non-traditional monitor with this beta
Apple again shows its ability to resolve major issues with Stage Manager especially on an External Monitor. With programs like Affinity Publisher or Superimpose V, definitely IPAD PRO has gone a long way to become a true Computer replacement.

I just installed mine.
Personally haven’t been on the beta release since the 16.0 release candidate. It is looking like external display support is really solid and stable, which I’m impressed with. I have an M1 iPad Pro 12.9”, M1 MacBook Pro with touch bar, and recently picked up the M1 Mac Mini. Using the Mac Mini with a Samsung Smart Display that had a USB C connection to directly connect to my iPad/MacBook, and using HDMI to connect the Mac Mini. The display also has Airplay 2. I just like that we now have options. If I want to be overkill, I can use the Mac Mini, and have my iPad on one side and MacBook Pro on the other, to use as extended displays, or I can use the iPad connected to the display to use as an external display (once the official 16.2 release comes out), I just like that we are getting more flexibility for the devices that are already out now. Such slow updates. While iOS is rolling through updates, iPad is stalling as iPadOS just muddles about. Like gee, oh yeah, iPad. That not a computer thing. The iSlab.

Every now and then I see Tech-Tubers who Screen-on times on an iPhone.
And they usually state that around 10 hours is a huge number.
My highest number on my 11 Pro Max has been 15 hours and 38 minutes, now THAT IS A VERY HUGE NUMBER.
Does Stage Manager still lose the window arrangement any time you rotate the device? On 16.1, if you rotate it and rotate it back again to the original orientation, windows randomly shift around.
Hopefully the Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch next year comes with these specs….
