damn the overkill haha
First: Sorry for the cringe thumbnail. Ugh. Thanks for watching! Should “Back to the Mac” be a permanent weekly video series? Yes or no? As with all Back to the Mac episodes, we have a Mac-centric giveaway. This time we’re giving away the CalDigit Tuff Nano Drive, watch the video for details on how to enter. Thanks again.
Yes
Yes please for a weekly Back to the Mac. And yes for the 24 Tb ssd too
Yes Def a weekly series!
Yes weekly
Nice video. Love that Flash storage Raid 0 array – Is it overkill? – Yes! – Would I like one too? – Yes!! Would love to know how well those Virtual machines run once you have your upgraded GPU in there. Hoping the GPU makes a big difference in terms of screen lag, compared to running a virtual machines on a Mac Mini 2018 with integrated graphics. – Would make a good comparison video!
It’s your hard earned cash, and nobody should ever tell you what to do with it!
@9to5Mac nice video. Looks like Mac Pro is a beast but unfortunately out of budget ☺️.
BTW which system is going to fulfil the needs for FCPX? I want to hear from you about this.
I’m watching your every single videos from last 2 and half years. Just awesome, I’m a big fan of yours.
@Jeremy Toh I’m far from a giant, but I really appreciate the kind feedback. Thanks for watching, and keep going with your channel making stuff you enjoy making.
@Abhishek Dubey Final Cut isn’t a single use case. Depends on the codec, the resolution, bitrate, framerate, and kinds of edits. Are you just cutting, or are you also doing optical flow analysis for interpolating motion? Are you doing 3D CGI inserts? Are you cutting a feature length film or a 20 second ad? It’s all vastly different. Final Cut is very efficient though, and frankly a 12″ MacBook can do simple edits in 4K better than some workstations can I Premiere.

Some dope upgrades. Would love to hear more about the W5700x in the future. For content creators and other professionals the Mac Pro is solid. I feel this may give you more time to spend with family, friends, or do other things.
Would love it if you made “Back to the Mac” a weekly series, especially now that we have the Mac Pro and 16″ MBP.
Jeff, would love to see a review on both the pcie board and the sabrent m.2’s.
Man… Making me want a Mac pro more every day. Lol
I didn’t know how to check the swap memory part!!
thank you!!
I’m using a mac mini with an egpu just like you’ve showed!!
you rock!! amfeltec surely knows how to keep their game standing strong!!
Yeah love this series! Have a nice day 🙂
Love the Mac Pro videos bro, keep’em coming!
Thanks for that great video! I’d really want to see a full blown thest of this PCIe Card. Did you have to use this additional power adapter, or did you just plugin the card as it is. Also: What are the exact temperatures of the ssds?
That moment when there‘s more RAM in that Mac Pro than I have SSD in my macbook:(
The Caldigit SSD would be handy therefore:p
Damn… I know that feeling when you want that tech even though it’s a total overkill
This is Jeff <3
Thanks for listening to me moan about wanting more back to the Mac on every other 9to5Mac video, Jeff. Love you and the show. Cheers, man.
