  1. This video was re-uploaded to hopefully address an audio cutout issue that was affecting Safari users on macOS. We apologize for the problem, and are hoping that it will be solved going forward. If you would like to access the original upload with its comments, you can do so here, as it’s been left unlisted: https://youtu.be/OD59kkq5aEg Thank you for your support.

  2. “The Wii U had great games!” Yeah, but they weren’t THAT great. I heard this a lot from people that were skeptical of the Switch.

“NINTENDO GAMES CAN’T SAVE ANY NINTENDO HARDWARE THE Wii U PROVED THIS LOLOLOL”

Most of the Wii U’s library consisted of 2D sidescrollers and multiplayer/party games. There were hardly any truly “deep” hardcore titles. The main Mario we got was an HD version of a 3DS game with multiplayer. Still great fun 3D World was, but it wasn’t what the Wii U needed to sell systems. Other games like Donkey Kong, Kirby Rainbow Curse, New Super Mario U, Pikmin… still great games, but nothing worth getting super excited about.

The ONLY “must-have” games on Wii U, to me, were Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon.

The Switch, on the other hand, launched with not just any Zelda game, but perhaps the best Zelda they’ve ever made (If not, certainly the most ambitious one). In its first year it’s getting a Mario game… but not just any Mario game… it’s getting perhaps the most exciting Mario game we’ve gotten since Sunshine, maybe Galaxy. The main “must-haves” of the Wii U have already made their way over to Switch within its first six months. And then, of course as noted in this video, the Switch itself is just a more exciting piece of hardware.

But it wasn’t just the Switch being a nice piece of hardware. Nintendo’s actually trying harder on their software side, too; they’re being way more ambitious than they ever were during the Wii U days.
