1. I currently use an Intel Mac Mini for one home office, and a Macbook Pro with external monitor in the 2nd home office. I will definitely be upgrading BOTH to the new M2 Mac Mini. I like the extended desktop feature on my IPad to eliminate the external monitor and provide portability when I travel

   • Can you use iPad as external monitor and the Apple Magic Keyboard for touchpad and keyboard with the Mac Mini?

   • @pmoz While IOS allows display mirroring on IPad, I think you’ll need an original display unit from which to mirror > IPad.

2. I’m interested in the Mac Mini M2 Pro – I’ll be using it for recording audio and virtual instruments & Samples.
   I am looking at 32GBRAM – probably 1TB SSD. I’d like more but not big enough pockets…

3. I use a 2012 Mac Mini for my home based business and it does everything I need without any hiccups. Hard to justify an upgrade but if I did this new Mini would be it.

   • I use since 4 years a 2018 Macmini intel….is working non stop 7 days a week 24/24h since then and for my needs is still great!

   • I had iMac 2013 (QUAD core CPU) now I have Mac Mini M2 – I was the same as you – let me tell you something – M2 boots quicker than intel Mac wakes up from Sleep it is so FAST – it is FASTER than……… my Apple Wireless keyboard manage to wake up to put my login password

   • @Bart I am sure m2 is better than Intel. I own also a M1 14 mbp….but won’t upgrade the Mini until mine lasts.

4. Nice price for someone wanting to simplify their setup and not worry about having enough power. My mom does not care about video editing or gaming, but she did notice how much faster apps opened. Anyone who only upgrades their computer every 3-4 years would do well with a computer like the M2 Mac.

   • 100% agree. Its for the person that just wants a computer to work for them

5. I got it with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. Though not sure if I made the right choice because I wanna dual boot Windows on it using Parallels or UTM

9. It would be interesting to know how much free space remains on the ssd after installing the OS and some programs.

   • With the OS, and some of my other apps, I still have about 200gb free.

10. I agree on no slowdown with lots of different apps open, however you start using Swap File even with just a few apps open, plus say a YouTube Video. No biggie in the short term, but obviously your SSD is going to wear out quicker.

11. I’m considering the Mac Mini M2 Pro as a replacement for my venerable trashcan Mac Pro as I want to be able to keep up with the latest developments in MacOS. Likely upgrades are the un-binned 12 core CPU/19 core GPU, the full 32GB of system memory and 4 TB of storage. In addition to the normal everyday computer activity I want to play with AI using PyTorch. Among other things I want to see how well using the GPU cores improves performance when training a model (over using the CPU cores) and I want to have the higher bandwidth system memory for quickly churning through larger data sets as well as having higher bandwidth memory for faster memory paging operations when the system load might require paging. And of course the higher GPU performance opens up the possibility of actually using the Mac Mini for gaming.

12. @9to5Mac does the base M2 now support 20Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, like the Sandisk Extreme PRO SSD V2? Recent AppleInsider SSD review suggests M2 Max does… fellow video editors want to know! No prior Mac has supported 20Gbps USB Gen 2×2 before. USB4 is great too as a budget alternative to Thunderbolt, but there are more Gen 2×2 SSDs on the market right now. Thanks!

13. I really appreciated this video. Particularly, the “What I’d Upgrade” section was great info and *extremely* helpful!!! I honestly wish all reviews would have a section similar to that!

14. I still have a 2014 MacBook Pro and plan on getting the Mac Mini as a replacement. I want a desktop computer instead since I’m not studying anymore and travel a lot less.
    Actually I want an iMac someday, but the 24 inch isn’t very interesting right now and too expensive for me at this point, so I plan on getting the Mini and maybe replace it in 1-2 years. I think I should be able to sell it for about 400€ by then and so now being able to finally get on Apple Silicon and a current macOS is worth the 100-200€ I spend on it for the next 1-2 years. My old MacBook is still working and actually quite fine for normal office tasks, but I have a feeling it’s time to upgrade.

16. I’m using the baseline Mac Mini in my home theatre. I’m feeding by Apple TV media player my Mac mini and my 4K Blu-ray player through my Denon receiver and I’m projecting it. I needed a desktop to get my full experience and Mac Mini fits the bill after my purchase of an illuminated wireless keyboard and a trackball mouse. This Mac mini is perfect for my usage in here and is actually a bit of overkill since all I use it for is web browsing online purchases email and other business matters and minor affairs
