The more that time passes on, the bigger those bezels look
MoMo I’m chilling with my Mac mini and triple monitors lol. These bezels are like 1/5 the size
@Bao Tran or a Hackintosh that has more performance than these iMacs while cheaper and you can get a superultrawide monitor with high refresh rate
@Fakrul Ibra Funny, that’s exactly my dilemma, either the 5700XT in the new iMac or a Hackintosh Ryzen 12-core with a 5700XT for windows gaming + Mac and an UltraWide monitor. If I could get an iMac with a 32-34″ ultra wide I’d be sold. Price wise a gaming rig Hacktosh with a high end monitor is about the SAME price as the iMac I would configure, so I think the price is pretty good on the iMac considering it’s 5k display.
Hello
What do you guys think about the new and potentially last Intel-based iMac?
I’m really excited, the 5700XT is a powerhouse and great for windows gaming. I’m going to upgrade my i5 2017 iMac to either this or a Hackintosh. My only concern is does it have enough cooling to actually use the 8/10 core i7/i9 with the 5700XT?? I’m staying away from Apple Silicon for a few years, x86 is too important to my needs.
I think you don’t buy what you already know is the last of anything.
@mavfan1 I think you have that backwords you NEVER buy the first of something…too many problems/bugs to work out. The transition to an ARM processor is going to be a rocky road just like it was the last 2 times Apple did this.
Hi Miles, this is a decent upgrade, and I’d get one if it wasn’t for the upcoming architecture change. Though it’s obviously going to be some time before Apple Silicon comes to the iMac. Even with the tweaks to the latter, it makes the iMac Pro even worse value.
I wish they would’ve gone full iMac Pro level with core i family of chipsets. I mean, updated thermals, 4 thunderbolt 3 ports, and hey why not a speace gray option? And why didn’t Apple ditch the iMac Pro? I mean where does it even stand? One one hand you have a powerful iMac which in many cases beats the iMac Pro, and on the other hand, you have super customisable and modular Mac Pro. Why do you need iMac Pro?
Those bezels
Still only 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports while the mac mini comes with 4
Is there a new mac mini this year?
I’ll keep my 2013 27″ iMac for now.
if yours cannot update anymore, just hackintosh it
i actually prefer glossy displays. I can’t afford OLED but still want deeper black levels.
Glossy displays don’t obscure pixels and retain fidelity and colors!
Nice thick bezels and sharp screen corners. Do not buy until real new iMac comes.
This is a Corona model.
Many of us rely on x86 for our workflows, personally I won’t switch to Apple Silicon for years! So much you cannot do with an ARM processor that you can do with an x86.
Even the base model 1080p iMac comes with a SSD now! Feels good that Apple finally ditched the 5400rpm drive
Hmmm should I buy these new iMac or wait?
Great, awaiting leaks for next years iMac.
The Imac Pro SHOULD be retired so the pricing strategy for the Mac Pro base model can be lowered.
You: thinking about which configuration to purchase
Me: *thinking will I be able to buy a Mac once in my life*
Great video it was really good
I actually like the old design. I can still put post it notes on it. I don’t think that will look good on the incoming redesign.
9:40, Linus actually hated the fact that Apple didn’t bring 10 gigabit ethernet on the iMac even though it was available as an option for the Mac mini.
Would love to see apple coming out with AMD threadripper 64 core cpu in an Imac.
Will there be new mac mini’s this year?
I doubt there will be a refresh this year
ORDERED!!!! 10 core i9 – 8 GB 500 GB 5700 XT!
Are you worried about the thermals on the 10 core iMac ? I am worried – do you know if the new 5k iMac has inherited the redesigned cooling system from the iMac Pro!
