That’s an awesome setup. Question though, with the mini mounted underneath.. how do you turn it on? Or do you just leave it on 24/7? That is why I didn’t do this with mine. I’d love to put it underneath my desk but I can’t reach to turn it on and off if I do.
It’s on 24/7, but it’s not hard to turn it off, just reach over and press power. It’s very easy to access.

I’ll be doing a desktop workspace renovation this year too. I love my desk but after a few apartment moves and borrowing a friend’s, found that it’s just too small and banged up. But a good desk that’s both functional and stylish under $500 can be a challenge. Especially if you want some style.

Yeah, the desk is KEY. If I could do it over again, I wouldn’t go for the BDI desk, but I’m kind of stuck with it now. Just going to make the best of it. Have you ever considered making a desk? You can get a wood desk top and pair it with standing desk legs and motor. I did that recently with a smaller desk and it worked pretty well.
@9to5Mac I’m looking into that but I don’t think I’ll go that route. It can be built like a tank but it’s usually not very stylish.
@Ricardo Gomez That’s true. If looks are of high concern, check into the BDI stuff. There are other desks they make. It can be pricey, but hard to argue with the styling.
So personally from experience i really like the mx keys mini for mac and mx anywhere 3 for mac combo because im not a huge fan of clackity mechanical switches and i also like to use the specific custom functions mapped out of the factory (Screen shot tool, emoji, etc).
But a pro display xdr…I live in Australia and i have a Dell S2722QC USB-C monitor that costs $650 AUD. My friend has a samsung Odessey G9 that cost him 2 grand AUD. Personally the pro display xdr isnt really worth the huge price and i recommend something like a usb-c docking monitor (Like the aforementioned S2722QC) or a caldigit (or smth like that) with a large but not 10 grand aud display)

Why don‘t you use a dock and mount it like under the desk?
I have a dock on the way, actually.
I can’t get behind these smaller keyboards. Don’t think I could go without a numpad on a desktop. On a laptop I can make it work because I’m sacrificing for space, but on a desk, I have plenty of room.
I used to think like you… but I appreciate the way smaller keyboards don’t interfere with my mouse.

What made you switch from the UA Arrow to the Mix Pre?
I needed something that worked with USB-C, because there is no USB-C passthrough on the XDR. But I may end up going back to the UA.

I own the BDI desk and I’m wondering about clamping the monitor arm to the desk. There is an air gap between the glass and wooden under layer with spacers in between. Did you use the normal clamp or some other type of clamp?

Apple would probably charge $2,000 minimum for an adjustable arm like that.
