Subscribe now ► – With today's release of iPadOS 13.4, the iPad gains official support for the Bluetooth mouse and trackpad. The best mouse and trackpad experience comes from the Magic Trackpad 2 and the Magic Mouse 2. I recommend these devices over any third-party mice and keyboards that you might use to to their gesture support. It's obvious that Apple produced this mouse and keyboard support with these two peripherals in mind.

  1. Another tip: If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel and want to scroll horizontally, hold shift on your keyboard and scroll at the same time.

  2. Yes, you will need the Magic Mouse 2 / Magic Trackpad 2 to use gestures like I’m demonstrating in this video. I highly recommend using the Magic Trackpad 2.

    • Funny before, using accessibility at least I could click and move the screen – now I can’t scroll at all……

    • Fellow Magic Mouse 1 users, this major feature is just on rev1 today, maybe they just didn’t think to or have the time to include the “driver” for the MM1. Lets submit bug reports & feature requests. It can be done.

    • Honestly, this is just apple limiting features intentionally so that people pay for their overpriced accessories, disappointing, but expected.

    • @Augie Nathanson nope just dug mine out of the drawer to see. Kind of useless because all you can do is move the cursor around the screen.

  3. So I tried to connect the first Magic Mouse, I cannot scroll, or move the screen, like how you would use your finger to scroll at the home pege, or scroll up and down on Youtube. Is it just me or other people also having this issue?

    • ILostMyAccuracy first gen doesn’t have the gesture sensors and it is supposed to sense gestures

    • Same here. In accessibility I just set it up so I can drag the screen instead of scrolling. Kind of a pain but works

    • i cant scroll with my razor atheris on 13.4 – before it was perfect (13.3.1). i even could change the scroll direction (install synapse) under win10 … have to reinstall. wtf apple

    • I have first gen mouse. You have a cursor and not much more functionality. Gesturing or swiping is out. Battery life is out. Going to home screen is a fail. Come on apple, force us to buy new hardware again?

  4. I have an iPad Pro 2018 12.9 and it sucks with the Magic Mouse 1. I can’t scroll!!! 13.4 SUCKS!!!

  5. When I use my mouse it automatically assumes a keyboard is attached now so the on screen keyboard just never comes up? Bug or feature?

Overall, it’s very different to the previous version, but still does need some refinement. Definitely feels like it’s pushing you towards a trackpad over a mouse though – because of the massive amount of “just drag past the top, or bottom”. Means massive mouse movements required. Very unnatural!

    • I have the same problem with on screen keyboard not coming up while mouse connected. Does anybody know if it is possible to use mouse and on screen keyboard at the same time?

    • I have a trackpad built into a Bluetooth keyboard that I use which also has click function and right click
If they support clicking your trackpad like on a PC it would be useful because it is hard to click on something and move it to the otherwise of the screen

  6. Actually, I want to say that you’re one of the best youtubers in the field of technology & apple devices as a whole. I personally see that you’re the best one to be followed. Your videos are of the best quality and sound ever. Sadly speaking, you’re underrated as you deserve more subscribers and viewers than ever. Keep up the good work! your journey hasn’t ended yet! Things will change for the better.

  7. Would you recommend the Magic Mouse 2 or the trackpad 2? Most for travel have the Logitech MX s 2 anywhere, the mouse 2 is smaller, but… that trackpad has so many other features!

    • Jarrad Shaw I use the trackpad with max tracking speed on Mac. It feels great on iPad. But it’s all personal preference you’ll have to try both.

  8. Scrolling worked perfect before the update, now it doesn’t work at all after I updated. Absolutely BS update.

  9. Do you think the trackpad makes sense, together with the upcoming new iPad magic keyboard which has a trackpad built in?

  10. With ios 13.4 the bluetooth keyboard both Apple and Logitech no longer works, and both the letters and the keys seem to have gone mad.
Have you noticed this defect too?

  11. I’ve been using a magic mouse with my iPad mini since sometime last summer. What made you think it didn’t work until now?

  12. 11:00 My iPad doesn’t have a home indicator since it has a home button. How do I bring up the appswitcher?
