2. Bumpr is “ok” if you want something good get Choosey (www.choosyosx.com) which allows you to set rules. Choosy isn’t on the Mac App Store but who cares? Pastebot is a good app but it does not have an iOS counterpart. I’d recommend Copied (www.copiedapp.com) which offers a Universal iOS app and Mac app with lists, templates and formatting options. I own both programs and Pastebot has a lot of nice little touches but no iOS app makes it hard to use in a daily workflow.

3. Affinity designer is amazing and the affinity photo is just as good but it acts just like photoshop I would recommend it alsohas no subscription !

   • Me too! I was looking to by Motion, but needed something to replace Adobe Illustrator… I’m stoked that I found out about Affinity Designer!!!

   • Matt B awesome! I’m looking forward to buying fcpx and motion too. I’m using pixelmator right now, but I want a vector app instead of pixelmator

   • Omar Gutierrez I came from Pixelmator to Affinity designer….and I can tell you that you won’t be disappointed…it’s totally worth it!

   • Thanks! I look forward to purchasing it. I got to ask: how is the learning process? Is it as easy as Pixelmator?

   • It’s not tooo complicated but not as easy as Pixelmator. But there are many tutorials…these have been very helpful for me. Nonetheless it took me more effort and a longer time to get used to all the new functions and possibilities. Now I really like it.

    • If we’re talking free MacOS Sierra has Universal Clipboard so you don’t even need iCopy.

14. Affinity designer catches my eye. I hate paying monthly for illustrator!

16. PopClip is another essential for me. When you select and highlight any text it brings up a selection bar just above the text of further actions. It’s just like highlighting text on iOS, but you can customise the bar with many options. There’s formatting options, such as copy, paste, or paste and match style, highlight, bold, italics, underline and many more.
    There’s Search options such as google, google translate, mac dictionary, online dictionary.
    You can instantly add the text to Ulysses or Evernote, fantastical and other similar apps.

    I added an apple script to make the selection bar stay longer(sometimes I felt it vanished too quickly) and I can reactive it with a tap gesture using BetterTouchTool. Highly recommended if you write a lot and want to speed up your productivity.

    Copied is better than pastebot in my opinion, simply because it links with the iOS version, but has a lot of cool features too.

    Affinity is great too.

17. For some of you development and graphic heads that have a workflow with specific folder hierarchy. The Mac App Store has a cheap app named Client Folder Maker which allows you to create multiple sets of folder hierarchy. I use if for setting up my web dev folder with css javascript and Python folders. I imaged graphics people have similar setups. Check it out ..a real time saver.

18. My favorite is Ulysses because I’ve been using that for a long time now. I’m a writer and it helps so much with my writing. Pastebot is new and haven’t tried it but I love the concept and think I will give it a shot for my workflow.

    • Daniel Escalante yes, I also use Ulysses a lot too. It doesn’t have as many features as Scrivener(e.g in Scrivener, if you are a writer, it’s nice to easily compare with previous versions of your sections which you “time shot”, and are colour-coded for grammar and punctuation; the pin board section is cool too if you have a large body of work and want to see the overall picture of narrative themes or characters development) but it’s more ascetically pleasing to write in, and simpler to use too. Dark mode when I’m writing at night, solarised theme during the day.

      Being able to send research from the net to my notes section is envaluable too.A lot of bloggers use it for markdown too, but it’s not necessary for me.

      I also like the typewriter function which highlights your current line to keep you focused. The iOS cloud syncing function is excellent, and allows me to edit quickly, on the move).

      More than just glorified notepad? Hell yeah!
