  1. What Ethernet Nic does it use? Usb3 or pcie based?… the ones that uses Ethernet with usb3 (most docks) is apparently those that’s flakey…

    • Same lol. I use a windows laptop and in some situations I’d like to have an ethernet port, wifi is unstable on surface sometimes.

  2. This dock is a pretty big downgrade to something like Ankers dock for the 2019/2020 MBP. This type of “clip on” dock just does not make sense with the new design. All this dock adds is an ethernet port and a USB-A port. All the other ports is has are simply replacing ones that it covered up or being redundant. If you want a practical dock you should get one with a cable.

    • The current Anker dock would block the mag safe port on the 2021 MacBook Pro. The only port this new dock covers is the headphone jack, which as you point out is taken care of with the jack being relocated to the dock. Other than having Ethernet in place of a redundant full size SD card slot, this dock is otherwise practically the same as the Anker, but it’s better for the new MacBooks for the fact that it still allows access to mag safe.

  3. 9to5Mac, you should look for your integrity before money of sponsorship, this product is a mess and doesn’t actually provide anything but Ethernet and USB type A which can be done at a fraction of the cost.

  4. For me this one is a no-go as I have a M1 MBP13. This one doesn’t add full size SD card. My old hyperdrive gen 2 dongle has all that with UHS-II SD card but no Ethernet. For me SD card slot > ethernet port. If this has all the ports as my gen 2 dongle, I would have backed it just for the way it connects to my Mac + ethernet.

  5. If that was 10GBE I’d be in, excited, ready but taking two thunderbolt 4 inputs and reducing it to one… not for me. Sure, usb3 second port but not thunderbolt 4.. oh well.. looks like the Caldigit Connect 10 GBE is for me, I already LOVE my OWC thunderbolt 4 hub. Thx for the review guys!

  6. Pretty much a waste of time for the 2021 MBP, which already has HDMI and SDXC ports, so why would anyone want to tie up 2 Thunderbolt connections?

  7. What a giant designflaw: the dock should have ‘feet’ now it hovers over the table: attach a few cables (pulling downwards, quite some weight) and the pressure on the two usb c ports won’t be very benificial, nor for the mac (the two receiving porta) nor for the hub (the two usb plugs) itself. A magnet won’t help much. (If it’s strong enough to withstand the pull of 3-5 cables, better keep your credit- and bankcards safe 😉

  8. I’m getting real tired of docks that aren’t a good fit for the 2015-2017 12” Retina Macbooks. We only have one USB-C port so all these hubs that want to plug into using two ports don’t fit. And Macbooks need the magnetic attach more than any other models.
