As good as the iMac's nano-texture glass is, I think most people should stick to standard glass.

The nano-texture glass option on the 27-inch 2020 iMac is amazing for its ability to reject reflections from ambient light. However, in my opinion, if you can control lighting to a reasonable degree, you should save your money and stick to standard glass.

would 9to5mac notice me?
I have a lot of lights for my YouTube videos and my guitar reflects in my screen so I ordered the nano texture. If it wasn’t for those reasons then I would have gotten the glossy instead.
The moment you said “back to the Mac” I thumbed up the video.
Your right, it would be better be upgrade the specs instead of getting the nano texture option.
That is so helpful because it was really my thinking but I haven’t seen the comparison in real life to tell. Do thankyou, makes my decision easier!
Take a drink every time “nano-texture” is said.
For me, matte screens all the way, nano or film, it must be matte whether computer or TV screen.
wonderfully useful review on the nano-texture, made with the usual graceful voice tone and stating the (dis)advantages without aggressive bashing. And it has opened my eyes on the fact that i rather stick to the standard glass.
How come the nano texture is sensitive when cleaning? If it’s etched into the glass…
And if it’s so sensitive shouldn’t the etching do better on the inside instead of the outside? Sure there’s a reason why it’s not but for 500 extra I don’t want to find the glass to become useless or worse because it’s overly sensitive.
However very happy to see the option. If you’re old enough, as I am, you’ll remember the matte Apple Display. Not as deep blacks but a lot easier display to look at.
I wouldn’t get the nano-textured glass for the same reason I won’t get Paperlike for my iPad. The picture is just fuzzier.
We should be all used to the reflection after all these years. And to be honest the standard Apple screens are awesome.
Makes me wonder what happened to regular matte displays Apple used to offer.
I wish that was available for a 21.5 inch iMac, Mine has such a terrible glare
Matt display came foc with my Dell monitors!
