  1. Couldn’t you just get a USB 3.1 external UHS-II card reader without having to buy this overly expensive MacBook Pro computer

    • Absolutely. I had one before I got my iMac Pro, and prefer to use that so that I don’t have to access the back of the Mac, anyway.

    • And effectively rendering your UHS-II bottlenecked? lol

USB sends data in data bursts and not in a constant speed, no matter how fast it gets, it’s not the best interface (that’d be Thunderbolt). Plus, if you have 4 ports, using 1 just for this kinda sucks.

But hey, who wants a dongle lol. Plus Internet Alpha is right.

  2. BTW the PNY Card used is actually a U3 “Class 10” card. Silly SD nomenclature. It’s fairly quick for a UHS-I card.

  3. I wonder how many people will try to put in the card from their seats in front of the computer and accidentally put it in the big vent by mistake.

    • You could still copy it from the card and it’d be faster than your reguar card, wouldn’t it? specially if you do it often!

  4. Would’ve like to see a black magic speed test on these cards. It’d be cool to try video editing right from the card itself

  5. *Removes SD card reader from all MacBook models

*Puts a next gen SD card reader in the iMac Pro

Come on Apple, how is this supposed to help workflow if using the two together?

  6. i think the imac PRO with finalcut PRO is perfect for editing my Mavic PRO footage.
it would be so much faster than my macbook PRO.
just like a real PRO.. especially if you add the ipad PRO with a clapper app.

  7. Let’s be real if you’re a videographer or photographer for real you then you have a high speed multicard reader. This is not a must for a DESKTOP.

  8. @9to5Mac do you know how to connect my ps4 to the iMac pro like using it as a monitor? just some normal cdmi to thunderbolt adaptor will do the job?
