The physical sim allows people like me to switch phones without carrier assistance. I constantly switch devices within my service. Plus, if Cricket service all of the sudden got bad, all I would need to do is switch to another carrier ( which I’ve done in the past)-. Apple is slowly making it more difficult for consumers to have a choice. I carry both an iPhone and Android. Im not locked into any one company or service. All I ask is to allow me, the consumer to make my own choices.
You can have dual E-sim, you can change your E-sim (at least here) by a QR code or the code the send you via email
Much easier and safer
StoneIsland120 it’s just not, unless your in a third world country like the UK even at that you can get an esim instantly for most countries phone numbers
What SIM card fundamentally is but a piece of string that allows service providers to identify you s as a paying customer, and maybe a few phone numbers if you somehow forget the contact app exists. It doesn’t provide any other functionality and for the amount of data it holds, it is a criminally wasteful use of precious internal space. It should’ve been gone at least a decade ago. Just scan a qrcode already. This crap belongs to the same rubbish bin of the fax machine.
@Conor Tierney I switch between my iphone and Samsung I have to contact them wish in the future it would be easier to do without contacting them
You can typically install more than 5 eSIMs while having 2 in use at any given time. It’s likely not as bad as you’re making it out to be.
The main issue can come when travelling overseas… what about that?
Looks like a bad move by Apple as some underdeveloped and developing nations have worst sim card services especially when it comes to esim etc.
Hwww
in Australia most carriers have eSIM , so no worries. great video.
So what do you do if you hypothetically wanted to go back to an older phone that only has sim card? When you bought the 14, it is esim only. But what if you wanted to go back to… Let’s say Samsung S10… Your old sim had already been deactivated… So you will need to buy a new sim from your carrier?
But what if you keep flipping back and forth? You can’t use the old sim. Because it’s already dead?
@Eugene Tsang you buy a sim card use your old number if you want. merry christmas
@Milton Brady right, so if keep flipping back and forth, I will need to keep buying sims? This wasn’t the case when sim cards were the norm
I have the sim tray in this country but I wish we didn’t, have been eSim since the XS Max and the extra security of not having a physical SIM card that can be popped straight out is in itself a nice feature, kinda reminds me of why I’ve always loved iPhones having integrated SS storage instead of a memory card that be popped straight out!
Wow, I literally didn’t know about eSim until today when I was looking into getting an IPhone 14. Then I started seeing comments about eSim.
I have the iPhone 10 prepaid with Verizon. I’m on the fence because I’m just looking to get 5g because my 4g service seems to have gotten worse since 5g has been out. Thinking I’ll get the 13 for now to avoid nightmares and I might be ready for the next step later down the road.
Yeah i just went from the X to the 13 pro
I tried to transfer my number to new iphone 14 from my old phone with ios version up to date. While doing so, i got message saying NO NUMBER FOUND and couldn’t transfer to new phone. Does anyone have solution to this problem?
eSIM is already available in modem places it go, (UK, EU, AU, CA).
At for going back to old iPhone, since XS, XR to 13 have all been eSIM capable so done through iOS (however, old phone will need to be on iOS 16). Otherwise, there would be no need for physical SIM on those unless u just want it.
Thank you for making this it really helped me.
You’re very welcome!
I tried the iphone 14 pro max but I personally like the Samsung s21 ultra better. With that said going on 3 weeks now Verizon can’t seem to get my Samsung fully activated because they say the iPhone is stuck on my account and they can’t get it removed from my account. Now the iphone isn’t working but the Samsung is for calls, text, but can’t send or receive pic text, can’t access vmail and the Samsung chat that kinda works like imessage doesn’t work. Very frustrating. I’m not sure why Verizon can’t seem to fix this???
Wish it was a little easier. I want to get on my Google pixel but don’t feel like the hassle of going to AT&T
I’m upgrading to either 13 pro max or 14 pro max from my good old 1st generation SE. And I will go to Europe from US. So I’m probably better off getting a refurbished 13 Pro Max from Backmarket or Amazon Renewed.
It’s not just exclusive to the USA. There are no SIM cards on the iPhone 14 Pros in Canada either. My girlfriend just got a pro max last night. Does not have a SIM card. Lol. It puzzled me for a minute because I don’t use iPhone. But now I realize it’s esim.
