    • Don Folders that one is older thunderbolt drives —> newer c/t3 inputs such as new MacBook. What u and I are both probably looking for our older macs is probably a old thunderbolt drive enclosure like the g tech ones and chain that to some sata or esata drives or external enclosures. I think why rare is they stop pushing older thunderbolt peripherals and didn’t lower esata that much to push us towards the newer standards. Well played lol. Look into the g technology thunderbolt 1/2 and esata older drives. They might work for u but they’re not really bargains though

  1. How long until that built in cable gets bent too much, ceases working and you have a useless paper weight.

  2. Still pretty pricey. Wish that cable was detachable. I suppose if you’re moving huge files around, maybe 4k video for example, it could be nice. I think I’ll stick with my T5, though. Cheaper, detachable cable, and still a bloody fast SSD. Oh, and significantly smaller.

  3. I’m a fan of OWC, but in this case I’ll take the Samsung T5 which is much smaller and more portable and fast enough for my purposes.

  4. The G-Drive mobile SSD has a removable TB3 cable which is important to me, and is plenty fast enough.

  5. To everyone complaining about the cable, I don’t think it’s a huge deal and I don’t see it kinking unless you really try to, but I’ve only used it for a few days. There is a 3-Year warranty included, just in case.

  6. Sorry for being a stickler, but the Amazon link is to the more expensive and faster Envoy Pro Ex (Ve) that costs a $1,000 for 1T but supposedly reaches 2,600 MB/s.

  7. OWC has terrible customer service so I would keep looking for other drive options. The support, or lack there of, on the MacPro SSD upgrades that can’t install the latest macOS is ridiculous.

  8. Reasonable price? I thought, you mentioned $500-odd. Is that considered “a reasonable price” for a 1TB drive (nevermind SSD and Thunderbolt).
