  1. It bothers me that the MacBook Pro’s exhaust vents are facing down when in the arc (if you want the apple logo right-side up). Hot air rises, so I would assume that this type of setup would be less effective for cooling.

  2. No my mbpr has too nice of a screen. Even tho it’s small it’s color accuracy and resolution is better than the other monitors I have.

  3. It always bothered me how loosely the machine fits in the BookArc. It wobbles from side to side and doesn’t stay perfectly vertical, as can be seen at 2:23 in the video.

  4. Love the look of it but particular to the new MBP operating this way you don’t have access to the Touch ID for logging in and especially if you leverage it for things like 1Password. It’s one of the bigger benefits of having the new MBP in my opinion.

  5. Is there any way I can use my tbMBP in closed shell mode while watching a movie on my tv(its hooked up via HDMI cable)?

  6. I’m a fan of the book arc for my iPad but I never really liked it for my MBP. I found it looked really messy when you’ve got more than 1 or 2 cords attached, and having to attach/de-attach the cords each time you undock gets old. I switched to a Henge Dock, which to me is a much simpler, neater solution. Yours looks good though, Jeff, with just one cord going to your thunderbolt hub.

  7. How do you connect to the LG 5K display while using an eGPU setup?
I guess it will be like:
    1. One TB3 connected to the eGPU and one TB3 connected to the LG display (but it will come with a significant performance drop).
    2. One TB3 connected to the eGPU and one miniDP port on the video card connected to the display, with an apple TB2 to TB3 adaptor.

  8. This accessory is a grand example of the overindulgence in the unnecessary that plagues a Western world that has too much idle time.

  9. I’d love to see a Space Grey version!
Until then, I will keep using the first generation BookArc with the insert for the Retina MBP. It’s tilted to the side but it works fine.
