sidecar can be pretty choppy, and most of the time I just need it to have a messenger or something on the second screen, so it makes a lot of sense to have messenger run natively on the ipad and use my macbook keyboard to control it!
12:26 ahhhh please Apple, make this real! ✨ all they need is to make a smooth transition animation to differentiate between moving a cursor/files to invoke UC and moving application windows (to the iPad) to invoke sidecar!
So far UC has been VERY beneficial for me. And, I’m one of those weird people that have (and love) multiple macs and iPads, so thank you for the heads up on adding more than 2 devices. Cool stuff, keep it up Apple and 9-5 Mac!

If I have two Macs connected to the same external monitor (let’s say two Mac Minis), am I able to use UC to leverage the same keyboard/trackpad, despite only having one ‘active’ Mac at a time?

Great explanation. I’m wondering what happens when you move your cursor out of screen while you have two devices ready to be connected? Will the cursor appear on random one of the two?
When you’re showing off the iPad vertically, what stand are you using and how is it connected to the iPad? It looks like MagSafe.
Whoa! I only thought 3 devices were possible. Knowing that more macs are possible is awesome.
This will drastically change my daily workflow, as it allows one set of peripherals to control multiple macs and thus defeats limitations on simultaneously open app instances as well as making lower powered and thus cheaper macs more viable since they don’t all have to share 16gb UM, but each can have that much.
Can you manually place an iPad under your mac external displays? My monitors are on mounts, but I’d love to have the iPad under them and use universal control. But I heard that it’s only for left and right.
Sidecar + universal control is the one I am excited about. It has to be possible!

Great video, great explanations… I discovered a bug, sometimes the left click of the mouse on my iPad produces the context menu, whilst using universal control. Anyone else seen this?
This has been a blessing. A rare new feature that is useful and I use everyday. My work allows BYOD for iPhone and iPad, but not macOS (so no Mac Studio and MacBook access) . But with UC I can use my iPad for Outlook and Teams at work, while I do my office stuff and browser utilities (that don’t require VPN) on my Macs. I can even drop files back and forth from the Mac and iPad.
Hooking up my MacBook Air with my iPad through sidecar and still be able to use my iPad as an iPad along with using the iPad as a second screen for my MacBook would be OP. Love to be able to pass programs over to my iPad and still be able to use my iPad apps simultaneously. Unless I can and just haven’t figured it out yet.
