I use my iPad 12.9 Pro 80% of the time at a tablet. I find it too small and would love a 14 inch unit with dual boot. Not sure about 16 inch though; I would have to see how it seems in practice.
It’s not confusing to those who need the space. I use mine (12.9) for nearly everything but what really drove me from the 11 inch was my need to draw (Procreate). Real estate when drawing rules. For all the artists out there, it will be a buy.

As an artist I feel like a 7.4, 8.3, 9.7 10.2, 10.5, 10.9 or 11 inch is better since it’s more portable for me. 16 inch seems ridiculous to me

I have a 12.9 inch an I actually use it as a tablet lol. Especially because I use it at work a lot. So honestly want a 16 inch because I’d use it for lots of productivity because honestly the stage manager feels to small for the 12.9 inch screen because have two iPad pros and use the stage manager but kinda feels weird and end up turning it off.
16 maybe to big, I have an 11inch and was going to swap it for a 12.9 but I am thinking if they bring out a 14inch I would keep the 11inch for mobile use and have the 14 as mainly desktop. I think a 16inch would be too big so I would get the 12.9 and probably not keep my 11 as too close to size
As an architect I would certainly consider buying a 16” iPad Pro if it could run BIM software to sketch and model ideas on. I would probably need a desktop/workstation for the ‘heavy’ work of creating construction document sets though, but then they are not so good for the preliminary modelling and sketching of building designs. Limited use case perhaps but there are lots of architects badly served by poor hardware and software. It took me a decade to find the combination that works best for me 🙂
I use my 12.9 Pro as a tablet almost exclusively. I will 100% buy a 16” version
I also think this will be used as a portable drawing/designing tool. Depending on the Specs it can also be used as a laptop. The question is what will the price points be. Minimum storage for the 16 inch needs to be over 500GB for its intended buyer. So if you want the 16 inch to be for creators, artist, designers, architects, etc. it will need some impressive Specs which will come with an impressive price tag, especially being an Apple product.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Nor do you have any idea who the target audience for an iPad with a big screen might be. And that might be musicians, for example, who need a big screen to work with sheet music and they don’t care about the other features, including storage capacity, since even the 64GB version can store an entire library of sheet music. There are a large number of users who just want a big screen. That’s it.
I use my 12.9 inches as a tablet and a portable TV all the time and I love it! On occasion I’ll use it for more work like purposes. I even tried out I’ll admit Samsung’s galaxy tab S8 ultra for a short time. Really liked it however, couldn’t get it away from the Apple ecosystem. I feel like a 14 to 15 inch would be welcome and not that bad 16 might be pushing it. I would still pick up a 16 inch as long as the price wasn’t too horrible. And then probably work on getting an iPad mini. Four more practicality purposes lol.
As far as using it as a tablet it’s all about having the right case. For the most part, all I see you Youtubers using it with is the Magic Keyboard and that’s the issue. Plus, I don’t know anyone who would dare use a case that doesn’t cover all sides of the tablet, like the Magic Keyboard by itself so once you use it with a case it’s tablet capability increase.
There will be a 14 inch too!
16 inch would be great for me as a musician. It could be used as an universal score reader for conducting large scores and the perfect tool for working with Sibelius.
I already have a 12.9 M1 I-Pad Pro last year, but I can see those who like to work with Adobe, Affinity, etc. would love to have a larger screen to work on, that you can touch and or use the Apple Pencil, since the Mac doesn’t have touch screen, it would be nice to have this larger screen with the Apple I-PadOS, versus Windows. I think these Creatives are what Apple is aiming to please with the larger I-Pad Pro’s. If I didn’t already have that I-Pad with my name engraved on it, I would seriously think of getting this 16″ I-Pad Pro, I would love to be able to go back and force between I-PadOS and Mac OS, that would be awesome.
I always assumed iPad Pro line goes at least 14 inches. After some thought, even 16 inches now makes sense. Imagine scenario where iPad as secondary monitor perfectly sits near your laptop. Real mobile portable workstations. But, it will be great if IPad pro runs Mac OS. Nerd can dream!
I’m an artist and I use my 12.9” as a tablet all the time. Im always on the go and use my tablet everywhere. Not sure if I’ll be able to use a 16” tablet the same way – probably not, but as an artist a 16” iPad is crazy exiting.
I use my M1 iPad pro 12.9” for web design, drawing logos, editing photos and video and it is a dream to work on. After the release of stage manager I do feel like having a bigger display could be of good use. However, I’m undecided if a larger display would be ideal. Perhaps a 15”? 16” seems a bit overkill. Scanning documents would feel cumbersome.
Illustrators, cartoonists, architects, interior designers, photo editors, videographers, musicians, medical users, *_lotsa_* folks would benefit. Also, there was some talk earlier about this new size being more landscape oriented, which might make it even more desirable.
I use my iPad 12.9 pro 4th gen everyday, A 16 inch would be amazing. I do use it with the Magic Keyboard most of the time, but for drawing 16 inch OMG.
I have an 11″ M1 iPad Pro and I can’t wait for the 16″. When multitasking or using the pencil the larger the better.
I am a professional illustrator and I use iPads every single day for rendering and drawing. I would buy a 16 inch iPad Pro for 2k in a heartbeat with ought thinking. I have wanted a larger display for years that isn’t my wacom 24 and I would kill to pick up something like that.
