Insane sweet n short vid 🙂
Damn, those speeds are crazy!
Another big seller! This is 10x faster than the SSD in my 15” 2013 MBP!
I agree with the 1TB boot option. But then you load all your daily data and libraries on this card. For a visual creator, this card or something comparable will basically be a necessity. And, it’s reasonably priced too!
I thought about this some more: Why even get that 32TB RAID you folks reviewed a few days ago? I mean, unless you are editing a movie, and some will, you can totally do well with 8TB of storage on a Mac Pro. You just have to be half-way decent of archiving on a timely basis onto your NAS.
I love this machine!
How fast would a setup like this be with a gen 4 m.2 ssd? How well does a gen 4 ssd runs on this machine (without a raid setup) ?
A gen 4 SSD can reach speeds up to 5GB/s but the Mac Pro does not support PCIe gen 4 due to Intels lack of support. AMD does however^^
@DarkCloud360 Intel seems to be falling behind really fast in the last years, hope they catch up soon as they have the resources to do so. Unfortunately for Apple this means that the mac pros 2019 are obsolete right from the launch with only pci-e 3 support…
let me just apply for a mortgage to buy a mac pro
My wife would rather have a small condo in Tuscany instead.
Wow, that’s impressive.
Even faster:
1. Configure a Mac Pro with 1.5TB RAM.
2. Make a RAM Disk minus the RAM I actually use (10GB) —> 1.49TB RAM Disk
3. Use RAM Disk for editing 1080p YouTube videos.
4. profit!
Haha! Genius.
yeah but 1.5tb ram will set you back ~$30K and honestly you won’t see the difference in overall speed that you will be expecting. ram drives have been tested to the death and apart from the super crazy low access time, you don’t get much for the money compared to nvme’s. that’s because both ram and nvme easily reach the limits of the machine and application you use. also 1.5tb might be not enough storage for some heavy apps.
geo nik Only?
I need it (the latency) for 1080p.
@Ruslan Tulupov nahh 240p is the limit.
Wow that is abosolutely fast! 7 GB/s!!
I love the Mac Pro more and more every day.
You and me both. It’s pretty good.
I’ve been using a 2010 cheese grater for so many years, any copying speed that’s under 2 hours is fine with me!
@9to5Mac bruh
Awesome!
Any way to get rid of this fan???
my question too. as soon as i saw that dinky little fan …
JEFF, you got two of those? Damn dude! Test em both out.
Please note, you may need to perform a firmware upgrade via Windows (Boot Camp) before the Samsung EVO 970 Plus drives work on macOS. Opt for the Pro versions for guaranteed out of the box compatibility.
Now that’s valuable information : ) and hopefully something Samsung will deal with soon.
I wonder how many people are watching these videos because they own a Mac Pro XD
A single Pcie 4.0 on the latest Amd Ryzen boards hit 5gbs – no need for raid . You can pick up a 2tb Pci 4.0 drive for sub $400 . Bottom line the Intel board is holding back this Mac
Always that complaining about a raid 0 configuration … I had a raid 0 ssd configuration and 1 ssd broke, so I lost everything ?? No, I make backups and I just replaced the broken SSD with a new one and just put everything back with my time machine backup. No problem .
