I would personally really appreciate it if Apple were to add support for RCS. Here in North America where the majority of cross device messaging is still SMS/MMS, RCS would be a massive upgrade. It will take a large percentage of Apple vocal users requesting RCS in order for Apple to add it.

Like almost all companies, for Apple user experience is not first (contrary to what Tim Cook says over and over and over and will tell us AGAIN next week). Profits are first. That’s ok. That’s business. Apple just needs to be convinced that they can retain, or increase, profits by improving the messaging experience on iPhone by implementing support for RCA.
Most of the people I talk to are on Android so for me, the iPhone users are our version of the green bubble, and I can’t send them high quality messages. I have both an iPhone and Android, but the Android is my primary device. This is one of many reasons why I won’t fully switch to iOS.
It is in Apple’s best interest to allow their users to think the experience is worse because the person has an Android, when in reality they are to blame for not implementing the RCS Universal standards.
I wouldn’t blame them because iMessage and Facetime is a big reason why their users won’t switch to Android which has a wider variety of devices, greater range of prices, and typically on the bleeding edge of technology.
I always turn off read receipts. I like to stay private. Also I’m not texting top secret information. Typing indicators I can care less about
I am dying for Apple to add RCS support so I can switch to my Pixel 6 full-time and still have decent chat with my friends, all of whom are iOS users and don’t want to download a messaging app solely for me.
Reducing that friction in switching platforms is absolutely a reason Apple drags their feet on RCS and why I, sadly, have no hope for RCS support coming until carriers force it.
How hard is it to download Whatsapp or telegram? Everyone who has an iphone uses Whatsapp

@Raj Brar A lot of people in the US don’t use WhatsApp since SMS in the US was free or at least they had tons of them included in their plan for free, and many people use iPhones which had iMessage since 2011. Why should they use WhatsApp or anything else?
I would love to see RCS on iPhone. I have a group chat with my coworkers and one of us has an android, so the experience is terrible. I don’t, however, think they’ll do it unless they get forced to like what’s happening with the charging ports.
@One Headlight it doesn’t lock into USB C. They’re most likely going to go full port less and rely solely on MagSafe. Also, Apple will likely switch all models, regardless of region, to MagSafe, not just the UN
@Logan Davis there are a ton of downsides to wireless for data transfer.. maybe in a few years but not there yet.. also it does lock them into usb-c for Europe. That is the new law.
@One Headlight the law requires that if they remain with corded charging and data transfer, they have to use USB C. It says nothing about wireless. If it’s all wireless, they don’t have to use usb c. Apple doesn’t care about the speeds, otherwise lightning would be long gone
I was away from your channel for a while and now that I’m back, I’m very happy that you’ve modified your previous approach to cover Apple news. Constructive criticism, instead of always praising them, would benefit all.
Apple literally has held back communication to decades old standards for their own profit. They know the green text thing is just another thing that strengthens brand loyalty.
I do wish that they do support RCS in the soonest possible time, as iMessage isn’t supported by some carriers.
iMessage doesn’t require carrier support as it is an IP based messaging as opposed to telephony based messaging like SMS/MMS and RCS.
Here in Europe we don’t even know about RCS no matter if you’re on iPhone or Android. Everything is the awful WhatsApp Chat. I hope RCS would finish that app, WhatsApp is the real enemy here for the rest of the world.

I almost never use them… but when I want them they are REALLY handy! That’d be a great addition!
RCS would be great on iPhone but not all carriers even support it. Until there is a set standard across all cell phone providers Apple shouldn’t support it.
I’m not seeing Apple doing any time soon. They are much probably going to adapt this lately but they might be thinking of the consequences. Plus Apple would be collaborating with competitor google and android and that has some company strategy to be though about. Collaboration always has to come with both parties earning since they compete in the marked. My question is. What Apple has to gain with this collaborative effort?
I would like to see RCS and iMessage can integrate on protocol level. Don’t bring RCS app to iOS and make so much useless apps
i bought an iphone simply since people made fun of people who had green texts and i kinda regret it honestly. honestly waiting for RCS so that texting friends on android phones isn’t borked. in the mean time, i use other apps when i can if possible to text people.
Once they implement it, I feel like Android users won’t leave me alone.
Everyone uses WhatsApp though which tackles all the issues as it’s cross platform . Although if you wanted to send a business a photo you need to add their number to your phone so you can see their name in WhatsApp. RCS would be easier as you’re just texting a number .
It’s crazy that Apple would rather keep SMS, continuing to make texting experiences for their iPhone customers horrible than to upgrade to RCS.
They would rather keep customers on iphone.. if you allow video and wifi messaging between android and IOS then there is less appeal to stick with Apple.

@matt87 I agree.. I think they are hurting the industry by doing that.. I think Apple has it’s place for people that want simple and more privacy.. iMessage shouldn’t be a sticking point.
It’s not only an issue iPhone vs. Android. If Apple would support RCS, it would instantly eradicate the need for having a buttload of third party messengers installed in order to reach all of your contacts. That would be so awesome… Apple, do it!
