  1. Well, there is the super annoying unfixed bug with rotation and Stage Manager – if you rotate and rotate back to the original orientation your original window layout will be lost. Window will randomly creep into different positions on every rotation. Super annoying if you rotate by accident (yes, of course I know there’s rotation lock, but I don’t want it enabled at all times to prevent Apple’s bugs).

  2. Hi 🙂 Thanks. 🙂 I have this same version of iOS 16.2 (20C65) but the previous firmware version (2.21.00). And when I check for updates it says my iPhone is up to date. I do have the beta profile installed. Now I uninstalled the beta profile and rebooted and then reinstalled the beta profile but nothing updates the firmware to 2.22.00.

  3. They added a new and SUPER annoying restriction that prevents airplay if you are using an external monitor on iPad OS 16.2. So you can no longer display out while sending audio to homepods.

  4. I love the beautiful lil computer iPad has turned into ☺to me it’s perfect and I can’t wait to see what the future brings!

  5. Thanks for the video. I don’t think this is going to be much use to me, I have an iPone 13 pro and an iPad Air 4 both bought this year. As contract here are usually fit two years I will not be upgrading for a while.

  6. I see no reason why the 2020 iPad Pros can’t at least have external monitor functionality in the correct resolution without the black bars on either side of the screen. Come on Apple just give the users that, even if stage manager is limited for those iPads , just give them the resolution of the external screen! Thanks for the good video as always Fernando.

  7. I own the ipad 9th gen, i feel disappointed. I bought this device in January 2022 but haven’t had a good experience with software updates so far

  8. I’ll admit I’m a bit annoyed by the fact that external monitor support isn’t on all iPads but, at the same time, if your wanting to use an iPad as your only computer, spending the money for an M1 or M2 model iPad is kinda worth it. Example, if you bought the M1 iPad Air and Magic Keyboard, you’d be looking at $700-800. More than likely, you already have a monitor so, you’d just need the proper cable or adapter. So, it would be like having both a desktop & laptop with one device. I know I’ll be eventually making the switch from a MacBook & iPad strictly to an IPad Air or Pro.

  9. Nando, can you test using airplay with stage manager? Does the receiving airplay device support extended display or does it force the ipad to mirror its screen?

  10. There is an important comment about extend monitor display.

Apparently there was a bug it was always mirroring and didn’t give the option to extend display. By design it was supposed to be extended display with mirroring as an option, but for some reason it worked on specifically when paired with a Magic Keyboard only.
The bug now got fixed and I don’t need to buy a the keyboard for extend display, this makes me very happy.

  11. As an iPad only user, the stage manager on the iPadOS 16.2 is a very pleasant update and has enhanced my user experience. Not only does it give you larger landscape when editing music and videos on the iPad, it also gives you that full desktop, MacBook like experience, when working on different components of my project. The multi tasking feature on the bigscreen is a game changer for me. I don’t really mind the restrictions when it comes to resizing the windows because what matters most is, the iPad can get the job done due to the myriad of professional high quality apps (iMovie, GarageBand, Focos Live, Notability, etc) that cannot be rivaled by other ecosystem.

    • @kazuha luvr !! i agree. Thats why i had to buy the cheapest M1 ipad available (iPad Air 5, 64gb) because my good old iPad 7 doesnt have this feature. Although, i must say that, even if the old iPad 7 doesnt have stage manager, it is very much capable to handle my video editing and record processing needs. Stage manager is a feature thats nice to have, but not that critical. Unless of course your work flow gets tangible benefit from this new feature.

  12. I’m an Air 4 user and every time I hear about stage manager I feel a little robbed. A two year old device being outdated is ridiculous

  13. Im sad that you cant do the stage manager for older IPads. I hope they can try adding it for the 9th and 10th because many people use it and its useful for school but yea i hope they do try because im using an IPad 9th generation because its less expensive than the IPad pro.

  14. I WISH I had the capability to use the external monitor support – I have an iPad Pro 2nd generation. Thanks – this was very helpful!
