I’ve had a lot of restarts with this beta. But stage manager si behaving a lot better.

As a previous owner of the M1, iPad Pro 12.9 inch I have to say this is really disappointing. It rocks my brain to think of how the iPad with the same SOC as the M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro can’t be able to to have stage manager functional by now. Especially considering that the same stage manager is working on Intel based MacBooks that are significantly less powerful. I am aware that it’s primarily the software that’s at fault, but it’s really heartbreaking to see that with each update the iPhone, and even watchOS get more features and more functionality for what they are compared to the iPad regardless of chip.
MS has spent over a decade trying to merge mobile and desktop and failed to the point where they have given up and now port in Android apps. A lot of whining iPad Pro owners are saying Apple should make the iPad like macOS, but if it was that easy, MS would have been the world leader in tablets by now instead of an also-ran.
The truth is that the de facto solution is mobileOS and desktopOS, being separate and refined to the edge of perfection. Not these mixed-up messes. If MS took 10 years and failed, then expecting Apple to get it right when just in beta is maybe unrealistic.
@andyH_England well that’s MS, but you are right, they can’tbe combined. Best way is to activate a full blown Mac OS when keyboard is attached.
@AR 7 it will confuse people , all people are not tech nerds plus it will fill up a lot of your storage and it will drain more battery and it will be buggy for sure
@Oaax how exactly? The solution is quite simple, you can activate Mac OS in the control center. Not everybody has to install Mac OS of course, that’s why you can choose. There is no excuse, the chip is literally M1.
It is actually a lot better to multitask without the Stage Manager on my iPad Pro M1. I found that I really dislike it and it makes me work a lot slower with it ON.
I had to revert yesterday from my beta to the old software. I was having issues with the Microsoft 365 suite or any apps within the program. Mostly my issue was with MS Word (insert tables) on both my Mac 13.0 (beta 7) and iPad OS beta would not work. Being that I am in school, and use these features every day it broke my heart but I had to revert to the old software! Thanks for keeping me up to date

Could you please highlight more full screen apps on the external monitor? Games in particular. Love to know if stuff like COD Mobile, Apex Legends or even Xbox Gamepass utilize the full screen. External monitor support is less useful if apps cant take advantage of the full screen.

One thing Stage manager annoys the heck out of me is it auto snaps into a location it determines;
why can’t it be the same as MacOS OR WINDOWS OS THAT let users determine where the app windows moves it to.
Just let users decides where the app windows should be moved to and stay there, don’t auto snap the location to somewhere else.
I’m starting to think that it is not the technical people issue, it is Apple’s vision people issue.
Whoever came up the idea to auto snap the app windows before, that person is responsible for this Stage Manager failure!
Ultimately, it is the “manager” not the “software developer” that ruin the company’s success.
The “ship” is drowning not because of the “sailors” but because the “captain of the ship” that gives bad navigation directions!
What do you think to use galaxy tablet as the second screen by stage manager? I do have an old samsung tablet, could be just amazing to use it as a display.
