  1. I ordered a Midnight Air M2.. I’m excited and concerned. (I’ve watched too many m2 videos!/!?) I’m moving on from my late 2016 Mac Pro 16 inch.) My last MacBook pro died an Early death from the connecting ribbons to the screen and the motherboard wearing out, a design flaw! that Apple will not fix)

I recently ordered the M2 air with 10 core GPU, 16 GB and 1 TB SSD. Keeping my fingers crossed that’ll I be happy. However, a lot of the early reviews are causing buyers remorse!

    • don’t feed into all the reviews…. some people have different needs or unrealistic expectations.

    • Not sure about it’s longevity. But the choice of midnight is good. Yes, gets fingerprints easily but over time, the darker shade will look cleaner than Starlight and Silver.

  2. Which of these two is better for a university use (take notes, watching videos, using excel and other stuff)?:
-MBA with 512 of SSD and 8gb of RAM
    – MBA with 256 gb of SSD (with the storage issue) and 16 go of RAM
Considering that I would like to keep this MacBook for at least 5-6 years

    • @Seba Ricke Apple used 1 NAND chip in their 256gb model, causing very slow SSD speeds. Fortunately there is two in the 512 GB model so speeds won’t be affected.

    • If you don’t plan to video edit a lot and your not rendering games. Then 8gb of ram will be ok. I would recommend more storage

    • 256gb and 16gb ram

You have to know how to organize your data, if not even 512gb would not able to last.

Office 365 is also a cloud app, we no longer have to install word/excel… etc in the machine and yes I have been using cloud office app only for work.

5-6 years is a reasonable upgrade time for Apple laptop. $100-150 can get us a 1TB SSD external hdd instead of just 256gb more on board storage but then it will come up another problem, how you gonna back up the external SSD.

I would suggest to go with a cloud route, like a lot of cloud storage would only load the file on your local storage when you open it or if you select to keep it full time in local storage. Like iCloud/Dropbox… we can dig deeper to it if you are interested.

    • i mean i came from a very far from wealthy family and believed that 256 gb of storage was insane but now that the times are changing i would recommend you to buy an external drive and get more storage. my favorite drive that i own is a seagate 1 tb drive, it’s so small you can fit it in your pocket and the cable easily goes into a backpack or anything of that sort. more ram = more multitasking, so for a university setting, you’re going to want more of that for when you have to open a million webpages.

      best of luck to you!

  3. Apple introduced Space Grey on the iPhone 5s not only to differentiate it from the previous model, but because the ‘slate’ finish on the iPhone 5 was easily scratched off or chipped away and Apple needed a lighter shade of grey to correct this issue. I really wonder how the midnight option is going to look after prolonged use.

    • With Maxtech’s first unboxing video, apparently at the USB port there was already a little chipping from connecting and disconnecting the usb plug a couple of times.

    • Oh boy, you’re right about that Slate colour iPhone 5, there’s also the Black iPhone 7 colour too. If history is any indication, it’s not gonna go down very well for this machine. But I’m more of the classic Silver MacBook colour.

    • @David Jacobs I bought this machine, in Midnight too. There’s nothing wrong with thinking critically about the things you like.

    • @Williamwallace I noticed this in the hands on videos at Apple Park, which is what sparked the thought process. Good eye!

  4. The reason why the other end of the MagSafe cable is white is because all of Apple’s chargers are white. Apple matched the color of each end to what that side connects with. The magnetic side is color matched to the laptop while the other side is color matched to the charger,

  5. The point of these new displays are that your “usable area” is now always perfectly 16:10 and rectangle.
The menubar area is extended into the bezels, rather than the notch cutting into the display.
Some people are thinking about it the wrong way.

  6. Yeah I just want to see how the M2 manage Ps and Lr with files of 50mp each… than the rest is apple

  7. Fernando is a ridiculously talented dude – smart, smooth, comprehensive, and entertaining. Well done man, keep it up! Can’t wait for the full M2 Air review.

  8. How’s the Air holding up in less air-conditioned room? I heard that previous MBs without fans reported issues even outside during 26 degrees of Celsius day. It just reported that it needs to cool down and turned off.
This is the only reason why I don’t want to get a fan-less MacBook. So, is it different with M(2) chip?

    • im still testing how it handles larger loads. I played NBA 2k for about 2 hours yesterday on the M2 MBA, it was sitting on my lap on a pillow and after i was done gaming, it was very hot
