    • @9to5Mac It’s not clear. Both of my SSDs completely died when I was copying data. All within a few minutes. There is a MacRumors forum thread with whole bunch of people encountering the same problem. Basically we see almost all cases involve a double sided SSDs with densely packed NAND chips. There hasn’t been reports of deaths of single sided SSDs. But OWC doesn’t want to take this seriously so no conclusion is drawn. My only advice is to stay away from the enclosure unless the SSD is still in warranty and you absolutely don’t care about the data.

  1. Can I ask is it safe to plug in your MacBook for hours even though it is on 100% ?

    • I did this with my 2014 and 2015 MacBook Pros for years. They were on chargers about 80% of the time, either at home or in the office. On Modern MacBook Pros, if you leave them plugged in all the time, they switch to a mode where they only charge up to 80%. You can tell them to charge to 100% if you need full battery life.

    • I’ll offer my not so great experience with mine. I had my 2017 MBP 15″ hooked up to my dual set up of LG Ultrafine 4k monitors for the majority of 2020-2021. After about a year of being plugged in for about 8 hours a day, the battery swelled up to a point where the bottom bowed out and could no longer sit flat on a table. It was only a $200 repair to swap the battery and replace the bottom panel, but I find it annoying that even with the 80% charge feature, these devices are not primarily meant to be plugged in/docked (as they are pitched out to be). I have been using a 2021 M1 Pro MBP 16 since launch and it doesn’t heat up as much as the 2017 did, so hopefully this one will last for a bit longer on the same setup

    • @Edgar Martinez I replaced the battery in my 2014 MacBook Pro 15 in 2021 as the battery needed servicing. That MacBook Pro was plugged in 99% of the time. I never really ran it that hard though.

    • @Edgar Martinez Maybe the heat contributed to the swelling of the 2017, intel chips emit heat a lot. Congrats on the M1 MBP, i can say that it is one of the best devices to invest in.

  2. I use a 30-year-old piano bench as my side table. It holds my MacBook, a cup of coffee, a small plate with sandwich if I want and my glasses. Of course I then temporarily lose it if someone wants to play on the piano.

    • That price is absurd. I was very interested until I saw the price. This item is at least, at least overpriced by $500. WOW!
      No sale!

  3. How about a USB-A to USB-C adapter, due to the continued prevalence of USB-A, years after Apple declared it was dead.

    • I use the Anker “USB-C to USB 3.0 Female Adapter for MacBook Pro”. It’s a 2-pack that fits perfectly side by side in the two ports on the left side of the M1 MacBook Pro 14 inch. They’re very small so they fit easily in a pocket or just permanently attached to a cable and they match the sleek metal look of the MacBook Pro.

  4. Oh wow you got a nuphy air60 Jeff? Did you switch to it from the keychron q2? I picked up the air75, and while I liked it, I ended up getting a keychron q1 to mostly replace it.

  5. I still can’t believe Apple added Center Stage to a prosumer display. I can’t imagine many people care about Center Stage in any case, but in a display like this it seems odd. And disappointing. On another note, I can’t get enough of Jeff Benjamin’s videos. You are the great.

  6. 5 accessories I find handy – When I want to buy accessories that are more expensive than the laptop itself.

  7. can I ask..u connect using what cable for the monitor…. usbc to HDMI or usbc to display port? which one is better?
