I’ve a 1TB 2018 11” iPad Pro. Other than issues specific to iPadOS, it’s been absolutely brilliant. I use it with the Pencil 2 quite a lot for illustration.

I’ve the 12.9 version. It’s great as you can get a refurbished or second hand on eBay quite cheap. Great for illustration, anything else I have noticed the wifi / cellular connectivity is the only thing I‘ve realised being slow compared to newer tech.
I have the 2018 11″ Pro, and it still feels as modern, fast, and capable as when I bought it on release day. Since I’m not a video or graphics professional, and I have an M1 Air for my more day-to-day computing tasks (and because macOS still is a better “computer” platform…managing multiple displays/windows, true desktop & file system support, burning the occasional CD/DVD, etc.), I don’t plan on upgrading to a newer one anytime soon as it serves its purpose as a high-performance tablet. I’m not a power user, but I love the ProMotion display, thin & light chassis, and how fluid and fast every single app and action feels on it still, almost five years later. I use it primarily for reading & notating music scores with Apple Pencil during rehearsals using forScore, web browsing & social media while watching YouTube or Hulu in PIP video, taking notes, the occasional game or photo edit, and it’s also my alarm clock on my nightstand (Nightstand Central has been a solid app). Overall, one of the best Apple devices I’ve ever purchased.

I’m using a 2017 iPad Pro 10.5/inch A10X chip 256 Gb model watching this video. And have no problems and use it every day since the beginning.
My 10.5 iPad Pro still working great as well.

My 2017 iPad Pro used all day during that time had the battery life was 1-2 hours before replacing it. I had 1,300+ charge cycles. Replaced it with the new iPad Pro M2.
It’s perfect for me, purchased used many years ago and it should last plenty more years to come fingers crossed. I do light photo editing on it
I have this 2018 11 inch pro model and here are the only cons. The os has gotten better but still cant compete with a laptop plus it can be buggy. 4gb ram is a bit low so when watching longer duration videos it will stop after a while and you have to refresh the page. Other than that it’s fantastic.
Agreed! I bought mine as an Apple redurb in 2019. I use it as a laptop and media machine. It’s perfect and a BARGAIN even at $500. I got mine, a 255GB, for $700 back then.

I intended to get the 2018 version last year but the 2021 with 128gb storage was at $699 and if hired I’d just toss in the extra and get that instead. Given what is being said about the 2018 model, I’m hoping that that what I have performs just as good in the years to come .
I loved the 2018 and would recommend it to anyone for whom the new ones are prohibitively expensive. I have the 5th Gen because I’m a professional artist and every improvement is welcome.
I’ve got the 2018 iPad Pro 11” with the 256gb of storage, I love it. I take notes at work using OneNote. I surf the net. Download movies when I fly. It a great companion to my 2020 Mac Mini. 5 years later it’s still quick and I don’t have any problems. I don’t plan on getting a new one anytime soon.
My 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 was doing fine except the decreased battery health was beginning to show. I also have a 2021 M1 iPad Pro 11 but wanted a larger screen, so a couple of months ago, I traded the 2017 iPad Pro for an Apple certified refurbished 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 256gb (A12z). It was $749 or $659 after trade and I am very satisfied at that price since with Apple refurbished you get a new battery and new outer cover. Heck, I’m enjoying my “new” larger screen 2020 iPad and I use it more than the 2021 M1 11. I will reassess next year when the new iPad Pros come out and may trade both of mine for the current M2 12.9 if Apple puts a notch or dynamic island on the 2024 versions, which I do not want on an iPad. But that’s just me. You don’t lose much going back a generation or two (or three).
Yeah just get the Logitech Slim Folio Pro case. These stopped working a long time ago when Apple stopped support apparently. That was throwing away money when I did it
Still using my 2018 11 pro with the keyboard and it’s solid. Still perfect and have no intentions of upgrading.
My 2018 iPad Pro 11″ lost touch responsiveness to a significant amount of the screen. It still works with a keyboard and mouse but I expected more for a high end product.
I agree! I have my 2018 11” iPad Pro since launch and it works perfectly fine. I use it for school and it lasts 5-6. Not planning to upgrade until OLED/Mini-LED comes to the 11”.
I bought a refurbed 2018 iPad Pro 12.9″ back in late 2019. I gave it to my daughter in 2021, and it’s still working like new.
