The iPhone isn’t getting USB C ever. Apple is inventing a new charging method that is still 5+ years away from now that will be the 2nd charging method for the iPhone. USB-C will never be a charging method on iPhones.
Apple doesn’t really have much of a choice now, the EU is requiring that they switch to USB-C.
