I ordered right when the Apple Store opened. It said sept 16 and then it changed to sept 23rd… but I ordered mine through the Apple Store app but through AT&T upgrade program. My girlfriend did it at the same time as me but she did it through the upgrade iPhone program from apple and she got the sept 16 date… so even though we did it at the same time mine comes in a week later…. Doesn’t make sense.
Edit my order was made at 7:10am. And my girlfriends order was also made at the same time….
They meant you can pre-order by September 16 but they would actually arrive in your hands on the 23rd

Thanks for the heads up! although my email for the apple watch ultra says “Arrives Oct 20 – Oct 27”. I ordered it the second it was available for preorder. perhaps that will change ?
It could perhaps be your location or exact band/size selection. On my end, I can still order several Apple Watch Ultra band variants with an estimated delivery on September 23, but going to the medium or large band pushes it to October.

Pre-ordered the iPhone 14 Pro Max Gold 512Gb. Picking it up on the 16th. So difficult and I did it around 8:30 am Eastern. All iPhone 14 Pro Max from Apple are currently out of stock for a month in the U.S. Yikes!
Apple in Toronto isn’t allowing pre-orders to schedule for pickup and no clue why. Support said models will still be available on launch day in store, but I’m sceptical. Also ship dates have already slipped here till mid October.

Ordering the Apple Watch was cake – ordering the iPhone was a nightmare – hence the slipped delivery date.
The online store was just plain broken for the iPhone order – missing and malfunctioning web pages, lack of notifications, and ultimately orders assigned to a notification email ID which hadn’t been used as an Apple ID in years. Honestly, I think it pulled thaat email address and used it as an Apple ID and put the order(s) under that.
Sorry … just had to rant. As always, my Apple orders are either flawless or total nightmares. YMMV.
For iPhone I would go Pro for the OLED display which is why I moved to the iPhone 11 Pro. Nice to be able to see the screen when I am out walking around, and in sunlight.
When it comes to eSIM I am going to have to check with my carrier to see how this would work for me if I need to move to a backup iPhone. A few years back I dropped, and killed my iPhone to a point it would not power up. I was lucky in that I still had my previous iPhone so all I did was pop out the SIM, and move it to my old iPhone and I was back up and running until I could get my newer iPhone repaired. Need to see how hard this is going to be if I have a new iPhone that only supports eSIM. Is there a KISS way to move my phone number/eSIM to a backup iPhone?
For now sticking with my iPhone 11 Pro with A13 154.9 GFLOPS supercomputer in my pocket until Apple comes out with an iPhone that has a USB Type C connector that I hope is either USB4 40, or USB4 80.
I have owned some wrist watches that only tell time that when adjusted for inflation would cost more than the Apple Watch Ultra. When it come to watches the new Apple Watch 8 Ultra I feel comes in at a very good price of $ 799.00. One thing so far I have not herd from most of the pundits is the flat sapphire crystal, and protection up to the edge. This is a big feature for me.
Have had sapphire on my watches before I moved to an Apple Watch. My first Apple Watch screen took a beating and was a little scratched up. Now my Apple Watch 5 always has a Smiling Case Compatible with Apple Watch Series 6/SE/Series 5/Series 4 44mm with Built in Tempered Glass Screen Protector,Overall Protective Hard PC Case Ultra-Thin Cover- Clear. So far no scratches, however when I sweat the perspiration gets under the protector so I have to take it off to dry it out when I get home.
If I did not already have an Apple Watch the Apple Watch 8 Ultra is the model I would purchase. Thing is since I already have the Apple Watch 5 that does everything I want it to do except glucose monitoring (really want), or blood pressure monitoring (would be nice) I will stick with my Apple Watch 5.
Apple EarPods, and AirPods have never stayed in my ears without a third party device (earhook). This is why I moved to the Ultimate Ears Fit. If I did not own these I would purchase the Ultimate Ears Drops for even better fit.
I pre-ordered the AirPods Pro because I got a €150 Apple gift card voucher with my 16 inch MacBook Pro as availed of the student discount. But I’m not happy with how they increased their prices by €50 in Europe. I wouldn’t have bought these AirPods if not for my 150 gift card
