  1. Are they _really_ played “in sync”? Audio sync across multiple wireless destinitions is a non-trivial feature. It is not simply WiFi streaming content to all speakers at once: that doesn’t get it done. As far as I know, only Sonos mesh network can actually send truly sync’d audio to multiple destination speakers at once.

    • you joking? that’s the main feature of airplay 2, that’s why there’s a lag, so it syncs from the router to the AirPods so there’s 0 lag, even while watching a movie, there’s 0 lag

    • alliejr they are in sync and they sound better than my Sonos Play Ones. Those are going on EBay tomorrow.

    • Aren’t those device have their own chip, like an A8 chip with onboard RAM. I think they transfer audio file over wifi and then use wifi to sync audio time not streaming audio

    • frankthedsigner Can you elaborate some more. I’d like to get one. I’m balls deep in the apple ecosystem. I just don’t use any music subscription service. I just want to listen to music from my Macs, iPad or iPhone library. I don’t even use Siri lol

  2. Maybe it sounds amazing and has great convenience but its too damn pricey (almost $800), closed environment (no controlling spotify, google play music straight from homepod), and siri is too damn dumb. That’s why this product has had relatively poor sales. Apple needs to fix those shortcomings, drop the price substantially, improve Siri, and open up its ecosystem and stop being so greedy then they will have a winning product on their hand.

    • I agree it could be cheaper, a pair of speaker for $700 is a lot. You can have a real floorstanding stereo with midrange driver for that price. But opening ecosystem? Well HomePod was built with one main mission in mind, luring Spotify users to get into Apple Music! The convenience of telling Siri to play any music/playlist from AM is awesome, have you tried it? Opening up is great, but that means suicide.

    • Well I hope HomePod can be opened up to Spotify too. It’s just I don’t think that’ll happen. Siri on iPhone can’t even play a specific request from Spotify after all these years. That really works for Apple’s business because I subscribed to Apple Music for this reason alone. Yeah I know it’s a walled garden. But having invested a bit deep into the ecosystem, I’d waste more time and money to get out and replace the whole setup I’ve had. So downward is the only forward to me.

  3. This is like the Super Troopers “meow” game, but with “highly anticipated” instead of “meow.”

  4. Any particular reason why you are holding the button for Siri till you finished talking instead of just releasing the button when Siri activates and you start talking? Is it so Siri acknowledges and acts on the request quicker with less dead air?
