I recently bought iPhone 13 Pro from AT&T. I think I don’t have to upgrade for the latest model. The notch won’t be a big deal for me. Besides it’s still brand new.
@John Wick No, it won’t. No one has said it will. The iPhone 14 will lack pro motion, three cameras, and a lot of other pro features. Now I do agree they most likely should’ve waited because it would’ve given them an extra year of life in their phone; however, that’s their decision to make… not mine.

Is it worth upgrading from an iPhone 12 to the iPhone 14? Maybe suppliers will start feeling the pressure to ramp up production for iPhone 15 and beyond so that way Apple does not have to pass the cost down to consumers.

I use to upgrade my iPhone every year, but I kept the 12 instead of getting the 13 last year. So I’ll be coming from the 12 pro max to the 14 pro max. I’m looking forward to them announcing something that wasn’t rumored, but definitely looking forward to the new cameras for sure. That might make me go to 1TB of storage from the 512gb I have now.

Same here. I still own an 11Pro and it works flawlessly. With no USB-C on a new phone it’s not a priority for me to get a new one. In fact not only should it be USB-C, it should be Thunderbolt especially with 8k.

I’ll probably only upgrade from the 13 Pro Max if Apple does some wonderful things with computational photography using the new 48-mpx sensor. I’m curious to see if they’ll be able to make faces look more like they were shot with a real camera. With the 13 Pro Max, the microcontrast just isn’t there and faces are still phone-plasticky, especially when even slightly enlarged. I’ll never buy a Canon lens that doesn’t have great microcontrast (e.g., the 24-105 f/4L IS, 16-35 f/4L IS, and the 135 f/2L – the latter being the standard in this regard). And it’s how I judge phone photos, too. The 13 Pro Max is great for general photography and video, but it’s kind of a dud for portraits, compared to real cameras, even APS-C.
I love the idea of the new iPhones supporting USB 3.0 for faster file transfer rate and the new iPhones supporting 8K video recording. The M Series chips on the M Series Macs are great for video editing. Touch ID would be cool too.
I think there is a possibility that Apple may implement an improved Lightning port with 27 watt initial charging rate (iPhone 14) and 30 watt initial charging rate (iPhone 14 Pro) and support for USB 3.0 with 5 gigabit data transfer rate, similar to what the second-generation iPad Pro models achieved. The 2023 iPhone models may finally implement USB Type C with Thunderbolt 3.0/USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 gigabit data transfer rate) connectivity and up to 35 watt initial charging rate.

I have iPhone 12 Pro Max coz Apple upgraded by iPhone 11 Pro Max due to the water damaged. If the rumours about iPhone 14 Pro Max are true, I’ll still hold on to my iPhone 12 Pro Max as I don’t see any significant design changes plus the possibility of the price increase. I want to have that “new” iPhone experience which I don’t think I’ll get that from the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
For someone that currently owns a device that no longer supports updates, I think it’s time to upgrade and I think with the new iPhones coming out, now’s a good a time as any.
I wanted to get an iphone since the iphone 11. There were only 2 things stopping me from doing that. I wanted a high refresh rate screen and USB C. They finally put a high refresh rate display in the iphone 13 pro and I was hoping they’d put the USB C port in the iphone 14, but I guess not.. Hopefully it will be iphone 15.. I’ve waited many years now so what is one more year..
I have been with iPhone for 11 years and I love it. The only thing I’m really sad about is that after Steve Jobs passed away Apple got stock in innovation. Samsung has this folding phones when supposedly Apple had to create it before them. Apple has the patent a long time ago and they never did it. If I don’t see any big changes on the new iPhone or something incredible I will switch to Tesla phone or Galaxy Fold at the end of the year.
P.s. I have my iPhone 12 pro max and honestly is almost the same like the 13-14.
$100 extra for a 256 GB iPhone Pro would essentially simply force you to get one storage tier higher – which makes sense considering 8K or ProRes video. You probably can’t utilize these features with a 128 GB iPhone Pro which would actually disable two of the features of the Pro (which happened last year for 128 GB models which couldn’t use ProRes).
Since I generally buy the Pro Max 512 GB model, so it won’t be a price increase at all (if rumors are true).
This isn’t like the MacBook Air where they’re increasing the price by $200 for essentially just the redesign and the next gen SoC.
I actually expected worse this year, considering the semiconductor shortage and rampant inflation.
A higher bandwidth lightning port should eliminate most of the stuttering problems with CarPlay. I’m looking forward to upgrading this year.
Can’t wait to upgrade from my outdated iPhone 6s to a 14 pro lol. I’ve saved some money and am prepared if there is an increase in price, so I am getting it regardless
hey for me i am waiting for the iPhone 15 pro series. or maybe the iPhone 16 pro max with under screen Face ID sensors under the display. or for a single camera hole or no holes on front display on iPhone series. For a design change to the iphone series. I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max blue color right now. to get the new iPhone 16 pro max or a future iPhone with some big changes. like the display camera battery. and other things improvements on the next iPhone series. hopefully will get some big or small changes with the next iPhone 16 series. also will come with no notch no obstructions. on the front display on the iPhones series in the near future.
I have the 11 Pro. I love it! But I think I should upgrade to the 14 Pro. I have about a week to think about it. Because I have friends tell me I should wait for the 15. 🙁
